  1. 1. Fluxes of Sensible and Latent Heat and Carbon Dioxide in the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer

    Författare :Erik Sahlée; Ann-Sofi Smedman; Anna Rutgersson; Sören Larsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Meteorology; Sensible heat flux; Latent heat flux; Carbon dioxide; Turbulent exchange; Global heat fluxes; Marine boundary layer; Air-sea interaction; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Oceans cover about 70% of the earth’s surface. They are the largest source of the atmospheric water vapour and act as enormous heat reservoirs. Thus in order to predict the future weather and climate it is of great importance to understand the processes governing the exchange of water vapour and heat between the ocean and atmosphere. 2. 2. Heat and Mass Transfer in Built Structures - Numerical Analyses

    Författare :Jinkai Wang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; air convection; heat; numerical procedure; air and moisture transport; long-term thermal performance; numerical stability; gas-filled foam; thermal aging; simulation;

    Sammanfattning : Heat and mass transport processes are often present simultaneously in built structures in building applications. The emphasis of this thesis is to contribute to knowledge about predicting the effects of combined heat and mass transport in built structures. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the Nucleation and Inoculation of Metals

    Författare :Lena Magnusson; Hasse Fredriksson; Peter Schumacher; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solidification; nucleation; inoculation; undercooling; interface energy; refractory metals; latent heat; inclusions; nodular cast iron; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Latent heat during recalesence and nucleation and post-recalesence temperature was analysed for refractory metals. An effect on latent heat was found by alloying the pure elements with other refractories. Latent heat was found to be 15-65% of tabulated values. Interface energy was evaluated from undercooling experiments. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The role of biogeophysical feedbacks and their impacts in the arctic and boreal climate system

    Författare :Wenxin Zhang; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic and boreal vegetation change; Biogeophysical feedbacks; Albedo; Latent heat; Carbon budget; Representative concentration pathways; Eearth system model; LPJ-GUESS; RCA; Sea ice;

    Sammanfattning : The physical environment in the northern high latitudes including the Arctic cryosphere has undergone dramatic changes due to anthropogenic greenhouse gas warming, which since pre-industrial times has been twice or more the rate of global mean warming. Global climate models predict that this accelerated warming will continue for at least the next few decades. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Boreal land surface water and heat balance : Modelling soil-snow-vegetation-atmosphere behaviour

    Författare :David Gustafsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soil; snow; land surface heat exchange; forest; arable land; eddy-correlation; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : The water and heat exchange in thesoil-snow-vegetation-atmosphere system was studied in order toimprove the quantitative knowledge of land surface processes.In this study, numerical simulation models and availabledatasets representing arable land, sub-alpine snowpack, andboreal forest were evaluated at both diurnal and seasonaltimescales.
