  1. 1. Microwave sensors for scanning of sawn timber

    Författare :Nils Lundgren; Olle Hagman; Gary Schajer; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microwave scanning; wood; density; moisture content; strength grading; finite element; Electronic measurement and instrumentation; Elektronisk mät- och apparatteknik; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Sammanfattning : A microwave imaging sensor that measures the signal transmitted through a board was investigated with respect to the ability to predict the distribution of moisture and density in sawn lumber. Furthermore, the response from the sensor was related to strength properties of the boards. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Timber has become more popular as a construction material during recent years. Engineered wood products, such as glued laminated timber and cross-laminated timber, have enabled the construction of multi-storey buildings. Tall buildings with many occupants need to resist a disproportional collapse in case of unexpected exposures, e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Low Frequency Impact Sound in Timber Buildings : Simulations and Measurements

    Författare :Jörgen Olsson; Andreas Linderholt; Leif Kari; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low-frequency; impact sound; light weight floor; timber joist floor; tapping machine; multi-storey timber building; frequency response functions.; Stegljud; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Impact sound;

    Sammanfattning : An increased share of construction with timber is one possible way of achieving more sustainable and energy-efficient life cycles of buildings. The main reason is that wood is a renewable material and buildings require a large amount of resources. LÄS MER

    Författare :Joran van Blokland; Stergios Adamopoulos; Anders Olsson; Jan Oscarsson; Mark Hughes; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; checks; cracks; digital image correlation; four-point static bending; fracture characteristics; grade determining properties; non-destructive testing; Norway spruce; machine learning; outdoor above-ground exposure; timber grading; scanning electron microscopy; scanning of fibre direction; strain distribution; ThermoWood®; weathering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Thermally modified timber (TMT) has gained market share in Europe as an environmentally friendly and durable building material. Unfortunately, TMT products are currently prohibited for use in structural applications as there is insufficient data to estimate the loss in strength due to thermal modification. LÄS MER
