  1. 1. Population divergence at small spatial scales : – theoretical and empirical investigations in perch

    Författare :Sara Bergek; Mats Björklund; Teija Aho; Sarah Goodacre; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perca fluviatilis L.; Perch; Small scale genetic differentiation; Morphometrics; Isolation by distance; Dispersal; Gene flow; Microsatellites; Spatiotemporal stability; Barriers; Biology; Biologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestrisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; Animal Ecology; zooekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Genetically structured populations arise when gene flow between groups of individuals is hindered by geographical, behavioural or temporal barriers. The identification of such groups is important for understanding evolution and has large implications for conservation concern. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Conservation biology and genetic structure of fringe populations of the scarce heath butterfly in Sweden

    Författare :Anna Cassel; Volker Loeschcke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; fragmentation; genetic structure; mobility; inbreeding; habitat requirements; Lepidoptera; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Conservation Biology; naturvårdsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : During the past century, about 82% of meadows and pastures have been lost in Sweden, with negative consequences for their flora and fauna. An example is the scarce heath butterfly, which is one of the red-listed species threatened by such habitat loss through afforestation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Ecology and evolution of genetic and phenotypic variation in fritillary butterflies

    Författare :Daniela Polic; Anders Forsman; Marjo Saastamoinen; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Evolutionary Biology; Evolutionsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding how eco-evolutionary processes and environmental variation shape different dimensions of biodiversity is a major goal in evolutionary biology and ecology, and essential for the successful protection of biological variation. In this thesis, I used fritillary butterflies as model organisms to explore and further understand the origin and dynamics of genetic and phenotypic variation at different hierarchical levels of organisation and across different spatial scales. 4. 4. Phenotypic Plasticity and Adaptation Potential to Salinity in Early Life Stages of the Tunicate, Ciona intestinalis spB

    Författare :Elin Renborg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transgenerational acclimation; Environmental variation; Tolerance range; Marine invertebrate; Quantitative genetics; Genetic structure; Local adaptation; Sexual selection; Gamete compatibility; Relatedness; Inbreeding; Heritability; Maternal effects;

    Sammanfattning : Species respond to environmental heterogeneity through a variety of mechanisms such as plasticity, genetic adaptation and phenotypic buffering. Determining how gene flow, scale of environmental heterogeneity and trait heritability influence these responses is important for understanding how these different mechanisms arise, which is a central task in the field of evolutionary biology. 5. 5. Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumours - Disease models, tumour development, and remedy

    Författare :Tobias Hofving; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuroendocrine tumours; tumour models; SMAD4; 177Lu-octreotate therapy; immunotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumours (SINETs) are malignant neoplasms which at the time of diagnosis often present with distant metastasis. The field of SINET research faces several challenges. LÄS MER
