  1. 1. Interfacial kinetic ski friction

    Författare :Leonid Kuzmin; Mats Tinnsten; Jonas Danvid; Mikael Jonsson; Roland Larsson; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ski glide; ski base; ski wax; hydrophobicity; UHMWPE; PTFE; topography; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : It is no doubt, that the ski glide over the snow is a very complicated object of research. However, ski glide is just a one area of many other areas of human knowledge. As a rule, the scientists and practitioners, who work in these areas, operate with some publicly expressed more or less solid hypotheses. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the Multi-Scale Nature of Ski-Snow Friction : Field Testing, Characterisation and Modelling of Cross-Country Ski Performance

    Författare :Kalle Kalliorinne; Andreas Almqvist; Roland Larsson; Steph Forrester; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cross-Country Skiing; Winter Sports; Winter Olympics; Multi-Scale; Sports Equipment; Contact Mechanics; Ski-Camber Profile; Ski-Base Texture; Ski; Snow; Friction; RTK-GNSS; Machine Elements; Maskinelement; Centre - Centre for Sports and Performance Technology SPORTC ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för idrotts- och prestationsteknologi SPORTC ;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of most endurance sports is to get from point A to B in the shortest time possible. Throughout the course, athletes need to overcome the resistive forces that are present in their specific sport. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Occupational exposure to fluorinated ski wax

    Författare :Helena Nilsson; Jonathan W. Martin; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perfluorinated; polyfluorinated; FIS; occupational exposure; ski wax; biotransformation; metabolism; fluorotelomer alcohol; fluorotelomer acid; aerosol; dust; UPLC MS-MS; GC MS-MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) are used in the production of ski wax to reduce the friction between the snow and the ski. In this occupational study of ski wax technicians’ exposure to PFAS and particulate aerosol we have collected whole blood (wb) (n =94), air (n =84) and aerosol (n =159) samples at World Cup events from 2007-2011. 4. 4. Environmental occurrence and fate of semifluorinated n-alkanes and perfluorinated alkyl acids present in ski waxes

    Författare :Merle M. Plassmann; Urs Berger; Michael McLachlan; Crispin Halsall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Semifluorinated n-alkanes; Perfluorinated alkyl acids; ski waxes; snow; soil; fate; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Highly fluorinated organic compounds are emerging environmental contaminants of concern, due to their persistence, ubiquitous distribution, bioaccumulation potential and toxicity. Ski waxes are sources of highly fluorinated chemicals to the environment that have not been investigated so far. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Alpine ski sport injuries in Swedish Lapland

    Författare :Curt Made; Lars-Gunnar Elmqvist; Herbert Sandström; Robert J Johnson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :skiing; wounds and injuries; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Downhill skiing is associated with recreation, youth, speed, aerials and crowded courses which carry increased risk of injuries. The aim of this study was to evaluate downhill sport injuries in a Swedish ski resort. Material and methodsIn a case-control study ongoing 1989/90–2006/07, 3,696 injured skiers were registered.
