  1. 1. Shoulder pain after stroke: prevalence, contributing factors and consequences in daily life

    Författare :Ingrid Lindgren; Rehabiliteringsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sensory thresholds; range of motion; arm motor function; outcome; Stroke; shoulder pain; life satisfaction; participation; activities of daily living;

    Sammanfattning : Post stroke shoulder pain, PSSP, is a common type of pain after stroke, but still further knowledge of this condition is needed. An increased knowledge of prevalence, contributing factors and impact on the individual’s life could enhance the possibility to find more effective treatments and therefore more studies are needed. 2. 2. Visual and proprioceptive control of arm movements : studies of development and dysfunction

    Författare :Birgit Rösblad; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vision; proprioception; reaching; pointing; arm movements; child; motor impairments; sensorimotor development;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation was to examine the role of sensory information for control of goal-directed arm movements in children. The role of visual and proprioceptive information on the target for end point accuracy was examined in normal 4- to 12-year- old children (Study I), and in children with motor impairments (Study II). 3. 3. Design for all Senses. Accessible Spaces for Visually Impaired Citizens

    Författare :Marta Dischinger; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; design methods; spatial perception; urban accessibility; visual impairments; universal design;

    Sammanfattning : The central purpose of this study is to contribute to our knowledge of designing in a way that can be supported by the knowledge of the situation, and by the experience and expectations of those who are affected by design. In this case it means to enable us to find methods that can support the development of design actions to improve the accessibility of public open urban places for visually impaired persons, enhancing their perception and understanding of space, increasing their possibilities of orientating and taking independent decisions, and enabling them participate in the city life. 4. 4. Changes in sensory systems during aging : an experimental study in the rat

    Författare :Esbjörn Bergman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :aging; behavior; primary sensory neuron; dorsal root ganglion; mystacial pad; sensory nerve ending; axon dystrophy; neuropeptides; B4; RT97; CTB; neurotrophins; trk; p75NTR; GFR[alpha]; RET; protein; mRNA;

    Sammanfattning : Aging is associated with sensorimotor disturbances, including increased proprioceptive thresholds. The present study aimed to clarify the occurrence of structural and biochemical alterations in sensory systems of behaviorally characterized aged rats. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sensory impairment of the upper limb after stroke: influence on daily life and effects of a novel training approach

    Författare :Håkan Carlsson; Rehabilitering och hållbar hälsa; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Stroke; Upper limb; Sensory impairments; Rehabilitation; Qualitative research; Activities of daily living; Dexterity;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract: Sensory impairments in the upper limb are common after stroke. Different sensory modalities can be affected such as sense of touch, pressure, pain, temperature and proprioception. The sensory impairments can negatively affect motor function, dexterity and the ability to perform daily activities. LÄS MER
