  1. 1. Forced use on arm function after stroke : clinically rated and self-reported outcome and measurement during the sub-acute phase

    Författare :Ann M. Hammer; Birgitta Lindmark; Lotta Widén Holmqvist; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :stroke; upper limb; reliability; validity; ICF; forced use; motor function; effectiveness; rehabilitation; physiotherapy; grip force; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of forced use on arm and hand recovery after stroke by applying a restraining sling on the non-affected arm and to investigate psychometric properties of selected upper limb measures.Papers I and II reported a randomised trial with 1- and 3-month follow-ups. 2. 2. Sensorimotor function in chronic neck pain : objective assessments and a novel method for neck coordination exercise

    Författare :Ulrik Röijezon; Mats Djupsjöbacka; Martin Björklund; Charlotte Häger-Ross; Dario Liebermann; Mikael Karlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neck pain; Whiplash; Sensorimotor; Motor Control; Motor Learning; Neck Coordination Exercise; Postural Control; Cervical kinematics; Reliability.; Community medicine; Samhällsmedicin; rehabiliteringsmedicin; Rehabilitation Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic neck pain is a widespread problem that causes individual suffering as well as large costs for the society. The knowledge about the pathophysiology is poor and therefore specific diagnosis and causal treatment are rare. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hand function in children and in persons with neurological disorders : aspects of movement control and evaluation of measurements

    Författare :Elisabeth Svensson; Charlotte Häger-Ross; Birgitta Lindmark; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cerebellum; disability; hand function; hereditary motor and sensory neuropathies; latency; motor control; reactive control; reproducibility; sensation; strength; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Hand function is of great importance in the many daily activities that require well-coordinated hand and arm movements. Measurement of hand function is an essential element in the rehabilitation process, in order to facilitate medical diagnosis and determine developmental stages, functional levels, and the efficacy of treatment interventions. 4. 4. Hand-arm vibration syndrome; Consequences for hand function and quality of life

    Författare :Ragnhild Cederlund; Hållbar vardag och hälsa i ett livsperspektiv; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; traumatologi; traumatology; Kirurgi; Surgery; orthopaedics; questionnaires; tests; assessments; outcomes; ill-health; well-being; activities of daily living ADL ; quality of life; hand function; hand symptoms; Vibration exposure; Hand-arm vibration syndrome HAVS ;

    Sammanfattning : Workers exposed to hand-held vibrating machines may risk developing a hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), a condition which can cause chronic impairment and disability. The aims of this thesis were 1) to obtain deeper insight and further knowledge of HAVS and the consequences for hand function, and aspects of quality of life (QoL); 2) to investigate the usefulness of clinical assessments in diagnosing HAVS; 3) to evaluate a treatment method for patients with severe cold intolerance. 5. 5. Clinical and kinematic assessments of upper limb function in persons with post-stroke symptoms

    Författare :Gudrun M Johansson; Charlotte K Häger; Helena Grip; Erika Franzén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cross-sectional studies; Arm; Hand; Gait; Outcome assessment; Clinical laboratory techniques;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is a common and multifaceted disease that often involves motor deficits in the upper limb. This thesis investigated reliability and validity of existing clinical assessments of upper limb function in persons with post-stroke symptoms and in non-disabled controls. LÄS MER
