1. Methodological aspects and usefulness of Quantitative Sensory Testing in early small fiber polyneuropathy : a clinical study in Swedish hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis patients
Sammanfattning : Generalised polyneuropathy (PNP) is a common cause to neurological impairment, and may be an early symptom of a severe systemic disease. One such illness is hereditary transthyretin (TTR) amyloidosis (ATTR), a progressive fatal disorder caused by a mutation on the TTR gene. LÄS MER
2. Shoulder pain after stroke: prevalence, contributing factors and consequences in daily life
Sammanfattning : Post stroke shoulder pain, PSSP, is a common type of pain after stroke, but still further knowledge of this condition is needed. An increased knowledge of prevalence, contributing factors and impact on the individual’s life could enhance the possibility to find more effective treatments and therefore more studies are needed. However, there is a knowledge gap when it comes to women’s experiences of different aspects of endometriosis healthcare, and the quality of that care. LÄS MER
4. A sensory role for the cruciate ligaments : regulation of joint stability via reflexes onto the γ-muscle-spindle system
Sammanfattning : Reflex effects evoked by graded electrical stimulation of the posterior articular nerves (PAN) of the ipsi- and contralateral knee joints were investigated using both micro-electrode recordings from 7 - motoneurones and recordings from single muscle muscle spindle afferents. Spindle afferent responses were also recorded using natural stimulation of different types of receptors, to elucidate if the articular reflexes onto the y -motoneurones were potent enough to significantly alter the muscle spindle afferent activity. 5. Pain, its assessment and treatment using sensory stimulation techniques : methodological considerations
Sammanfattning : Pain is a worldwide clinical problem that causes great suffering for the individual and costs for society. The assessment and evaluation of perceived pain is necessary for diagnosis, choice of treatment, and for the evaluation of treatment efficacy. LÄS MER
