16. Endogenous t-PA release and pharmacological thrombolysis - Experimental animal studies of the coronary circulation
Sammanfattning : Abstract The physiologically most important activator of intravascular fibrinolysis is tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) released from endothelial cells. In man, sympathomimetic drugs increase the systemic concentration of t-PA. LÄS MER
17. Studies of Retroviral Reverse Transcriptase and Flaviviral Protease Enzymes as Antiviral Drug Targets : Applications in Antiviral Drug Discovery & Therapy
Sammanfattning : Viruses are a major threat to humans due to their unique adaptability, evolvability and capability to control their hosts as parasites and genetic elements. HIV/AIDS is the third largest cause of death by infectious diseases in the world, and drug resistance due to the viral mutations is still the leading cause of treatment failure. LÄS MER
18. Messenger molecules and receptors in the human trigeminovascular system
Sammanfattning : The initiation of a migraine attack involves a primary central nervous system dysfunction with subsequent activation of the trigeminovascular system. In trigeminal ganglia, the expression of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), substance P (SP) and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) have been demonstrated by immunocytochemistry. LÄS MER
19. MicroRNA and energy metabolism in gastrointestinal tumors
Sammanfattning : MicroRNAs (miRNAs) contribute to cancer development and drug resistance via cellular biological processes, including metabolic pathways. Energy metabolism plays a significant role to maintain tumor proliferation in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. However, the roles of miRNAs and energy metabolism in GI cancers are not fully understood. 20. Downstream effects of master regulators in two brain diseases
Sammanfattning : In paper one, we investigated how the pharmacological activation and inhibition of the glucocorticoid system affects lifespan and symptoms in a mouse model for RTT. We performed a long-term drug treatment study with the GR activator corticosterone and the GR inhibitor RU486 under which we measured the lifespan and onset of RTT-like symptoms of male Mecp2-null and female Mecp2 heterozygous mice in comparison to untreated mutant and to treated and untreated wild-type animals.
