  1. 16. Analytical methods for biomolecules involved in atmospheric aerosol formation in the Arctic

    Författare :Farshid Mashayekhy Rad; Ulrika Nilsson; Caroline Leck; Leopold Ilag; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In the Arctic, increasing ice-free conditions and nutrients freed from the melting ice must strongly influence the marine life. Aerosol emissions from microbiological marine processes may affect the low clouds and fogs over the summer Arctic, which in turn have effects on the melting of sea ice. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Determination of OPAHs and PAHs in Particulate Matter from Ambient Air and Engine Emissions : Multidimensional Chromatography

    Författare :Trifa Mohammad Ahmed; Roger Westerholm; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Particulate matter (PM) is an air pollutant that seriously impacts human health. Epidemiological studies have shown associations between human exposure to urban air PM and lung cancer, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Rapid sample preparation and bioanalytical techniques for efficient screening of organic pollutants in the environment

    Författare :Malin Nording; Peter Haglund; Ron Hoogenboom; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; accelerated solvent extraction; CAFLUX; food; immunoassay; PAH; PCDD; PCDF; pressurized liquid extraction; soil; CALUX; cell-based bioassay; chemically activated fluorescent gene expression; chemically activated luciferase gene expression; dioxin; ELISA; enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; feed; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Large numbers of samples often need to be prepared and analysed in surveys of organic pollutants in the environment, but while the methods commonly used in such surveys can provide abundant detail they are generally costly, time-consuming and require large amounts of resources, so there is a need for simpler techniques. The work underlying this thesis assessed the potential utility of more convenient sample preparation and bioanalytical techniques for rapidly screening various environmental matrices that could be useful complements to higher resolution methods. 4. 19. Development and Evaluation of a Denuder-Filter System Designed for Sampling Diisocyanate Aerosols

    Författare :Yvonne Nordqvist; Ulrika Nilsson; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cylindrical denuder; Diisocyanate; TDI; HDI; IPDI; MDI; Chemosorption; Vapour particle distribution; Aerosol sampling; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : There are many occupational environments in which isocyanates or PUR-products are used, produced or processed. During these operations there is always a risk of isocyanate exposure, which may lead to severe health problems. Isocyanates principally affect the respiratory system and they are the main cause of occupational asthma. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Removal processes in sewage treatment plants : Sludge quality and treatment efficiency of structurally diverse organic compounds

    Författare :Ulrika Olofsson; Peter Haglund; Staffan Lundstedt; Juliane Hollender; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmetrics; flame retardants; GCxGC; non-targeted screening; mass flow; metals; plasticizers; poorly removed contaminants; POP; PPCP; prediction; Principal Component Analysis; removal efficiency; sewage; sewage treatment plants; sludge; sludge adsorption; sources; time-trend analysis; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Large and ever-increasing numbers of chemicals, including large quantities of a broad spectrum of organic compounds are used in modern society. More than 30 000 of the more than 100 000 chemical substances registered in the EU are estimated to be daily used, of which many will be discharged into the waste-streams handled by municipal sewage treatment plants (STPs).
