  2. 2. Recent Extraction Techniques with Emphasis on Supercritical Fluid Extraction and Microwave-assisted Extraction

    Författare :Cecilia Sparr Eskilsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Pressurized hot water extraction; Pressurized liquid extraction; Microwave-assisted extraction; Recent extraction techniques; Supercritical fluid extraction;

    Sammanfattning : Today’s requirements of fast, reliable and selective analytical methods with minimal usage of organic solvents have accelerated the development of new, automated extraction techniques. In this thesis recent extraction techniques with emphasis on supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) were investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Determination of Persistent Organic Pollutants in Solid Environmental Samples Using Accelerated Solvent Extraction and Supercritical Fluid Extraction. Exhaustive extraction and sorption/desorption studies of PCBs

    Författare :Erland Björklund; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sorption; Sediment; PCBs; Polychlorinated Biphenyls; POP; Persistent Organic Pollutants; SFE; Supercritical Fluid Extraction; Accelerated Solvent Extraction; ASE; Desorption; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Human activity is constantly causing environmental problems due to production and release of numerous chemicals. A group of compounds of special concern is persistent organic pollutants (POP). These toxic, lipophilic chemicals have a high chemical and biological stability, and tend to accumulate in the lipid phase of living organisms. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Analysis of PAHs and their transformations products in contaminated soil and remedial processes

    Författare :Staffan Lundstedt; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; PAHs; degredation; transformation; formation; accumulation; oxidation products; metabolites; oxogenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; oxy-PAHs; soil; gasworks; remediation; bioremediation; bioslurry; wood-rotting fungi; Fenton´s reagent; avaliability; bioavaliability; chemical analysis; extraction; pressurized liquid extraction; PLE; accelerated solvent extraction; ASE; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Soil that is heavily contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is often found at the sites of former gasworks and wood-impregnation plants. Since PAHs are toxic these sites represent a hazard to human health and the environment, and therefore they need to be treated, preferably by a method that destroys the contaminants, and thus eliminates the problem permanently. 5. 5. Methods for Determination of Benzo(a)pyrene and High Molecular Weight (>300 Da) Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Particulate Matter from Ambient Air and Vehicle Exhausts

    Författare :Christoffer Bergvall; Roger Westerholm; Stephen Wise; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PAH; dibenzopyrene; benzo a pyrene; standard reference material; air particulate matter; diesel particulate matter; toxic equivalence factor; ultrasonic assisted extraction; accelerated solvent extraction; automation; online coupling; GC MC; LC GC MS; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Air pollution with particulate matter (PM) raises considerable concern because of its adverse effects on human health. For this reason, and because the mechanisms of PM toxicity are not fully known, there is an urgent need to determine the chemical constituents of atmospheric PM, especially PM emanating from traffic - a major source of urban PM.
