  1. 1. Sensory quality of pork : Influences of rearing system, feed, genotype, and sex

    Författare :Anette Jonsäll; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Domestic sciences; Sensory analysis; rearing system; genotype; sex; feed; pig; food quality; taste; muscle; Hushållsvetenskap; Domestic science and nutrition; Hushålls- och kostvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Hampshire crosses of different genotype and sex were used to investigate the effects of rearing system, feed and handling on sensory quality, consumer preference and cooking loss. A selected and trained panel carried out descriptive tests. Two preference tests were carrieout by, in each case, 200 consumers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Extraction of PCBs and PCDD/Fs from Food and Feed Matrices Using Pressurised Liquid Extraction (PLE)

    Författare :Sune Sporring; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Feed; Pressurised Liquid Extraction PLE ; Food; PCDD F; PCB;

    Sammanfattning : Since the Belgian dioxin crisis in 1999 there has been a great demand for fast, cheap and reliable methods to analyse food and feed samples. Traditional methods use large amounts of solvent for the extraction, are time demanding and laborious, but new and more sophisticated methods have been developed in recent years. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Dual Band Prime Focus Feed for Satellite Earth Terminals

    Författare :Yogesh Karandikar; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reflector Antenna; Choke Horn; Eleven Feed; satellite earth terminals;

    Sammanfattning : Satellite Communication systems have been studied and developed since long. With more high frequency satellite bands coming in the market, there is a need to develop suchsystems with multi-band or wideband operation with reconfigurable antennas which can provide simultaneous transmit receive capabilities on different polarizations as well as have properties suitable to track the satellite. 4. 4. Livestock, feed production and land use – an environmental assessment

    Författare :Yaw Sasu-Boakye; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; partial equilibrium modelling; land use impacts; livestock production; soya beans; life cycle assessments; ecosystem services; protein feeds; feed substitution;

    Sammanfattning : The use of land for agriculture contributes substantially to today’s global environmental challenges such as climate change, water and land degradation and biodiversity loss. Today, about 38% of the ice-free land surface on earth is used as agricultural land, with about 75% of agricultural land used to produce feed for livestock. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Trace analysis of dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with electron capture detection

    Författare :Conny Danielsson; Peter Haglund; Karin Wiberg; Jean-Marie Dimandja; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography; GC × GC; µECD; PCDDs; PCDFs; dioxins; dioxin-like PCBs; Pressurized liquid extraction; PLE; PLE-C; food; feed; fly ash; soil; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs), two groups of struc-turally related chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons, generally referred to as “dioxins” are of great concern due to their extreme toxicity and presence in all compartments of the environment. Since they occur at very low levels, their analysis is complex and challenging, and there is a need for cost-efficient, reliable and rapid analytical alternatives to the expensive methods in-volving use of gas chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry (GC-HRMS).
