  1. 21. Epidemiological and clinical aspects of T-cell lymphoma

    Författare :Henrik Cederleuf; Medicinsk onkologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; population-based; peripheral T-cell lymphoma; Anaplastic large cell lymphoma; angioimmunoblastic; elderly; ASCT; comorbidity; prognostic factors; follow-up; limited stage; etoposide; CHOP; overall survival; radiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : T-cell lymphoma (TCL) is a rare group of malignancies and one of the important aims in this thesis has been to broaden the general knowledge of TCL with descriptive patient data. Main focus has been to examine prognosticfactors for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), and to evaluate different treatment approaches and follow-up (FU) after treatment. 2. 22. On the Effects of Blood Parasites in Wild Birds

    Författare :Peter Halvarsson; Jacob Höglund; Staffan Bensch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atoxoplasma; avian malaria; coccidia; Gallinago media; Haemoproteus; Leucocytozoon; parasite prevalence; Passer montanus; Plasmodium; recapture mod-els; survival; Biologi med inriktning mot populationsbiologi; Biology with specialization in Population Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Coccidian and haemoatozoan parasites are commonly occurring endo-parasites in wild birds and prevalence can vary among species and populations. In addition to prevalence studies, parasites are often used to investigate effects on life history traits. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Prognostic Markers in Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma : How Bad can it be

    Författare :Gustaf Hedström; Gunilla Enblad; Francesco D'Amore; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; DLBCL; Survival; Mast cell; Microenvironment; MicroRNA; MDM2; Polymorphism; Age; Epidemiology; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), which is the most common type of lymphoma, is characterised by its aggressiveness and poor outcome without adequate treatment and also for its biological and clinical heterogeneity. It is therefore highly desirable to gain a more profound understanding of the underlying biology of the disease, as well as predictive factors for the guidance of treatment. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Mortality in Oxygen-Dependent Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Possibilities for Pharmacological Interventions

    Författare :Magnus Ekström; allergologi och palliativ medicin Lungmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; COPD; mortality; survival; comorbidity; cardiovascular disease; cardiovascular drugs; angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor; angiotensin receptor blocker; beta blocker; statin; aspirin; antiplatelet drug; gender; sex; oxygen-dependent; LTOT; trends; excess mortality; SMR; hypoxemia; hypoxia; hypoxaemic;

    Sammanfattning : Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major and rising cause of mortality worldwide, especially in women. Patients with chronic hypoxia owing to COPD are treated with long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) but have high morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Angiogenesis Related Markers In Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    Författare :Daniel Brattström; Ola Brodin; Gunnar Wagenius; Torgny Rasmusen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Lung cancer; NSCLC; Therapy; Angiogenesis; VEGF; bFGF; Microvessel density; Survival; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigated the predictive and the prognostic powers of angiogenesis related markers in both operable and inoperable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.In the first and second study, we investigated the serological fractions of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in 2 cohorts of patients with either operable or inoperable NSCLC.
