  1. 31. Endocrine modulators and sexual differentiation in Japanese quail : With emphasis on the neuroendocrine system

    Författare :Krister Halldin; Ted Ebendal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Japanese quail; sexual behavior; endocrine disruption; sexual differentiation; estrogen; estrogen receptors; avian; Biologi; Biology; Biologi; Ecotoxicology; ekotoxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Chemical disruption of the endocrine system in various animal species is currently attracting considerable interest, but avian models are not yet widely used in studying endocrine disturbances. This thesis shows the occurrence of alterations in sexual behavior and reproductive organs in adult Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) following embryonic exposure to estrogen-like chemicals. 2. 32. Expression and localisation of somatostatin receptor subtype 2a in neuroendocrine cells and cells of neuroectodermal origin

    Författare :Sayed Hossein Hashemi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SSR2 a receptor; somatostatin; neuroendocrine tumours; tissue culture; immunocytochemistry; ; SH-SY5Y cells; CAD cell line; ependyma; tanycytes; neuronal differentiation; catecholaminergic markers; ; cholinergic markers; synaptic vesicle membrane proteins; intermediate filaments.;

  3. 33. Gene Therapy with Interferon Alpha and the Angiogenic Inhibitor, Vasostatin, in Neuroendocrine Tumors of the Digestive System

    Författare :Minghui Liu; Kjell Oberg; Yinghua Zhou; Bertram Wiedenmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Internal medicine; neuroendocrine tumor; interferon-α; vasostatin; vinculin; tumor suppressor gene; nude mice; gene therapy; Invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : IFN-α has been applied in medical treatment of various neuroendocrine (NE) tumors, either alone or combination with somatostatin analogues. They can improve clinical symptoms in 50-70% of patients but a significant tumor reduction is only observed in 5-15% patients. Vasostatin (vaso) is believed to be an angiogenic inhibitor. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Targeted radionuclide therapy for patients with neuroendocrine tumours with focus on normal tissue response in 177-Lu-DOTATATE treatment

    Författare :Johanna Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radionuclide therapy; Neuroendocrine tumours; 177Lu-DOTATATE; dosimetry; normal tissue response;

    Sammanfattning : Targeted radionuclide therapy with 177Lu-DOTATATE for patients with neuroendocrine tumours utilises the frequent overexpressing of somatostatin receptors on the tumour cells. This treatment modality has demonstrated valuable patient benefits and is well tolerated. However, renal and bone marrow toxicity can become dose limiting and persisting. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Neuroendocrine studies in patients with affective disorders

    Författare :Marie Bendix; Jussi Jokinen; Marie Bixo; Viktor Kaldo; Maria Petersson; Anna-Carin Wihlbäck; Wieslaw J. Cubala; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Affective disorder; Suicide attempt; Postpartum depression; Postpartum psychosis; Personality traits; Violence; Oxytocin; Insulin; Glucagon; Allopregnanolone; Progesterone; Estradiol;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Affective disorders are common and a major cause for increased disability and mortality worldwide. Exogenous stressors and biological variables, including neuroendocrine factors, are assumed to contribute to an increased vulnerability to mood dysregulation. LÄS MER
