  1. 1. IL-6 and GLP-1 in body fat regulating parts of the CNS in healthy mice

    Författare :Fredrik Anesten; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2016]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IL-6; IL-6Rα; GLP-1; obesity; hypothalamus; brainstem; tanycytes; immunohistochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : It has previously been shown that mice lacking interleukin-6 (IL-6) develop mature onset obesity. The weight-suppressing effects of IL-6 have been assumed to be exerted at a central level, as supported by the fact that ICV- injections, but not peripheral injections of IL-6, increases energy expenditure and decreases body fat in rodents. 3. 3. From molecule to neuron : thyroid hormone action in the brain

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Cell and Molecular Biology

    Författare :Susi Gralla; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2015]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The importance of thyroid hormone (TH) for mental health has been known for decades. With the identification of the thyroid hormone receptors α and β (TRα, TRβ), TR dependent mechanisms involved in brain development were investigated, identifying TRα1 as the main TR isoform in the brain. 4. 4. Expression and Function of Thyroid Hormone Receptor Alpha 1 in the Brain

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Cell and Molecular Biology

    Författare :Karin Wallis; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Thyroid hormone is fundamentally important for development and maintenance of adult brain functions and maternal hypothyroxinemia during pregnancy can lead to a severe mental retardation known as endemic cretinism. The first realization that endemic cretinism is caused by iodine deficiency and its association with thyroid hormone was made a century ago; this eventually resulted in dietary supplementation programmes, e.
