This thesis addresses a community intervention program utilizing a community empowerment approach to study whether this is a reasonable strategy to control NCD. LÄS MER
2. Bio-Nano Interactions : Synthesis, Functionalization and Characterization of Biomaterial Interfaces
Sammanfattning : Current strategies for designing biomaterials involve creating materials and interfaces that interact with biomolecules, cells and tissues. This thesis aims to investigate several bioactive surfaces, such as nanocrystalline diamond (NCD), hydroxyapatite (HA) and single crystalline titanium dioxide, in terms of material synthesis, surface functionalization and characterization. 3. Inequalities in non-communicable diseases in urban Hanoi, Vietnam : health care utilization, expenditure and responsiveness of commune health stations
Sammanfattning : Background: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among adults in Vietnam. 5. Medication-related problems and psychotropic drug use in vulnerable older populations : a focus on acute hospital admissions and cognitive impairment
Sammanfattning : The ageing process involves several physiological changes that affect both pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and that, in combination with a heavier disease burden and more extensive use of medicines, put older people at higher risk of medication-related problems and associated clinical outcomes. The older population is often treated as a homogenous group, when in fact there are factors that render certain individuals more vulnerable to adverse drug effects and other types of medication-related problems.
