11. Motion Vision Processing in Fly Lobula Plate Tangential Cells
Sammanfattning : Flies are highly visually guided animals. In this thesis, I have used hoverflies as a model for studying motion vision. Flies process motion vision in three visual ganglia: the lamina, the medulla, and the lobula complex. In the posterior part of lobula complex, there are around 60 lobula plate tangential cells (LPTCs). LÄS MER
12. Tracking and radar sensor modelling for automotive safety systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the problem of tracking in the setting of an automotive safety system. In particular, it considers the problem of estimating the surrounding traffic situation using observations from radar sensors. LÄS MER
13. Nuclear magnetic resonance and microcirculation: The influence of pulsatile brain-tissue motion on measurements of intravoxel incoherent motion and assessment of haemodynamics using exo- and endogenous tracers
Sammanfattning : In this project, the potential of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and spectroscopy in studies of microcirculation and haemodynamics was evaluated. The spatial and temporal characteristics of human pulsatile brain-tissue movements in healthy individuals, relevant for the understanding of the cerebrospinal-fluid (CSF) circulation and the pathogenesis of hydrocephalus, were thoroughly investigated. 14. Model Based Coding : Initialization, Parameter Extraction and Evaluation
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers topics relevant to model-based coding. Model-based coding is a promising very low bit rate video coding technique. The idea behind this technique is to parameterize a talking head and to extract and transmit the parameters describing facial movements. At the receiver, the parameters are used to reconstruct the talking head. LÄS MER
15. 3D Gesture Recognition and Tracking for Next Generation of Smart Devices : Theories, Concepts, and Implementations
Sammanfattning : The rapid development of mobile devices during the recent decade has been greatly driven by interaction and visualization technologies. Although touchscreens have signicantly enhanced the interaction technology, it is predictable that with the future mobile devices, e.g. LÄS MER
