    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers topics relevant to model-based coding. Model-based coding is a promising very low bit rate video coding technique. The idea behind this technique is to parameterize a talking head and to extract and transmit the parameters describing facial movements.     Sammanfattning : In real-time computer graphics applications, at least three major forces are in conflict, namely, rendering speed, the level of realism, and interactivity. Therefore this thesis focuses on real-time algorithms that enhance the realism while maintaining high rendering speed, and on fast intersection test methods in order to speed up, for example, collision detection, picking processes and ray tracing.     Sammanfattning : The objective of this licentiate thesis is to develop novel algorithms and improve existing methods for urban land cover mapping and urban extent extraction using multi-temporal remote sensing imagery. Past studies have demonstrated that synthetic aperture radar (SAR) have very good properties for the analysis of urban areas, the synergy of SAR and optical data is advantageous for various applications.
