6. Laminins and alpha11 integrin in the human eye : importance in development and disease
Sammanfattning : The extracellular matrix (ECM) offers a protective shelter for cells and provides signaling paths important for cell to cell communication. ECM consists of basement membranes (BM) and interstitial matrix. BMs provide mechanical support for parenchymal cells, influence cell proliferation, survival, migration and differentiation. LÄS MER
7. Laminins in stemness and germ cell development in human
Sammanfattning : Stem cell niches regulate the fine balance between self-renewal and differentiation of various stem cells. Although crucial hallmarks of stem cell niches, such as the mechanical signalling, neural inputs communicating distant cues, the proximity to blood vessels and the structural support by the surrounding basement membrane (BM), have been evaluated in different niches, little much attention has been directed to the specific composition of the BM. 8. Cell-matrix interactions in neuronal regeneration : focus on integrins and laminins
Sammanfattning : The central and peripheral nervous system (CNS and PNS, respectively) differ in their ability to regenerate after injury. This difference has been attributed both to intrinsic differences in the properties of the neurons and to the extracellular environment. LÄS MER
9. Laminins in blood vessel development and disease -functional aspects in angiogenesis, atherosclerosis, and muscular dystrophy
Sammanfattning : Basement membranes are sheet like extracellular matrices that underlie or surround many cell types. They are crucial for key cellular events such as cell migration, proliferation, survival and differentiation. Vital components of all basement membranes are laminins, heterotrimeric combinations of different laminin chain isoforms. LÄS MER
10. On laminins and laminin receptors and their roles in regeneration and myelination of the peripheral nerve
Sammanfattning : One important prerequisite for successful axon regeneration is that appropriate extracellular molecules are available for outgrowing axons and that receptors for such molecules are found in the regenerating neuron. Laminin associated integrin subunits alpha3, alpha6, alpha7 and beta1 mRNAs are here shown to be present in rat motoneurons, and in the case of integrin subunits alpha7 and gamma1, also immunohistochemical (IHC) labelling of the proteins was demonstrated.
