  1. 6. Impact of the gut microflora on the digestive system in the suckling rat

    Författare :Frida Fåk; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; probiotics; prebiotics; antibiotics; lactobacilli; bacteria; intestinal permeability; Small intestine; maturation; weaning; suckling;

    Sammanfattning : The postnatal development of the gastrointestinal (GI) system in mammals is genetically programmed, but is, to an unknown extent, regulated by external factors such as the diet and the gut microflora. These factors can influence the growth of the GI tract, the age-related pattern of appearance of digestive enzymes and the decreased intestinal macromolecular permeability at gut closure, normally timed with weaning in young rodents. 2. 7. Characterization of the Intestinal Microbiota by DNA-Based Methods

    Författare :Mei Wang; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; bacteriology; virology; Microbiology; Ulcerative colitis; T-RFLP; 16S rRNA; Brachyspira; Microbiota; Bacterial diversity; Bacterial translocation; Translocating bacteria;

    Sammanfattning : The intestinal flora and the bacteria found in the extraintestinal sites were studied in liver injury rats, with or without Lactobacillus plantarum 299v pre-treatment. The dominating intestinal flora and translocating bacteria were typed by RAPD and identified by 16S rDNA sequencing. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Fermentation of quinoa, canihua and amaranth to degrade phytate and improve mineral bioavailability

    Författare :Vanesa Castro-Alba; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []

    Sammanfattning : Plant-based diets are the main source of nutrients for vegetarians worldwide and for low-income inhabitants of developing countries, such as in rural areas of Bolivia. These diets may contain high levels of mineral inhibitors such as phytate that impairs mineral absorption in the human gut. LÄS MER
