1. Human copper ion transfer : from metal chaperone to target transporter domain
Sammanfattning : Many processes in living systems occur through transient interactions among proteins. Those interactions are often weak and are driven by small changes in free energy. LÄS MER
2. Selective transfer hydrogenations : Catalyst development and mechanistic investigations
Sammanfattning : By generating a library of amino acid-based ligands, pseudo-dipeptides, and combining them with transition metals, we have created selective and efficient ruthenium and rhodium catalysts for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones. The ruthenium-catalyzed reaction was studied in detail, and we found that alkali metals play a crucial role for the reactivity and selectivity of the reaction. LÄS MER
3. Active Transport of Ions across Biomembranes : A Kinetic Study of Cytochrome c Oxidase Reconstituted into Phospholipid Vesicles
Sammanfattning : Ion transport across membranes is of uttermost importance for us. It is the foundation for signaling of various kinds e.g. in the nerve-system. LÄS MER
4. Femtosecond Dynamics and Photochemistry in Solution
Sammanfattning : The reaction dynamics of several polyatomic systems have been investigated in solution by femtosecond spectroscopy. Tetranitromethane-naphtalene complexes excited in the charge-transfer band at 400 nm undergo dissociative electron transfer, resulting in three primary products: [naphthalene].+, NO2 and C(NO2)3-. 5. Electron-transfer processes in fast ion-atom collisions
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is experimental studies of electron-transfer processes in ion-atom collisions at velocities significantly higher than typical orbital velocities of electrons in bound states of atoms or molecules. The experimental technique applied combines the high beam intensity of heavy-ion storage rings with a supersonic gas-jet target equipped with a recoil-ion-momentum spectrometer. LÄS MER
