6. Adenovirus-mediated CD40 Ligand Immunotherapy of Prostate and Bladder Cancer
Sammanfattning : Cancer immunotherapy aims at reversing the immunosuppressive tumor environment and enhancing anti-tumor immunity. This thesis comprises studies on murine models for prostate (TRAMP-C2) and bladder (MB49) cancer with the aim to explore if the introduction of an adenoviral vector expressing CD40 ligand (AdCD40L) can induce anti-tumor immune responses. 7. Phagocyte-induced apoptosis in natural killer cells and T cells. Role of reactive oxygen species and regulation by histamine
Sammanfattning : Malignant tumors frequently contain an infiltrate of leukocytes, usually cells of the monocyte/macrophage lineage and lymphocytes with anti-tumor activity such as natural killer (NK) cells and T cells. Clinical and experimental data suggest that monocytes/macrophages in tumors inhibit functions of adjacent NK cells/T cells and thereby suppress lymphocyte-dependent anti-tumor immunity. LÄS MER
8. Tumor targeted delivery of cytotoxic payloads using affibody molecules and ABD-derived affinity proteins
Sammanfattning : Cancer treatment cost billions of dollars every year, but the mortality rate is still high. An ideal treatment is the so-called “magic bullets” that recognize and kill tumor cells while leaving normal cells untouched. LÄS MER
9. Treatment of Experimental Neuroblastoma with Angiogenic Inhibitors
Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is a childhood cancer that originates from neuroblasts in the peripheral nervous system. Neuroblastoma show considerable heterogeneity with respect to location, responsiveness to treatment and prognosis. LÄS MER
10. Studies on the effect of ErbB tyrosine kinase inhibitors on malignant melanoma growth and survival in vitro
Sammanfattning : Malignant melanoma has one of the fastest increasing incidences among the different types of cancerin the Western world. This raise can partly be ascribed to the change in sun habits that has takenplace during the last decades, since the major external risk factor for melanoma is exposure toultraviolet radiation.
