21. The use of highway crossings to maintain landscape connectivity for moose and roe deer
Sammanfattning : Increasingly wildlife managers and land managers are challenged to maintain the viability and connectivity among large mammal populations. Thus, it is important that effective highway crossings are identified and optimized with respect to construction cost, facilitation of ungulate movements, and ability to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions. 22. Designing out waste - Exploring barriers for material recirculation
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis has investigated what hinders material recirculation in society, to later suggest possible ways to support material recirculation in the future. Since material recirculation is proposed as a way to use waste materials for new production, it was deemed relevant to investigate two separate case studies that enabled recirculation from production systems and waste management. 23. Marginal and Virtual Water for Sustainable Water Resources Management in Syria
Sammanfattning : Arid and semiarid Middle Eastern countries generally, and Syria in particular, face serious water shortage problems and challenges with water sustainability. Climate change, population growth, and economic development play a major role in decreasing available water resources per capita. LÄS MER
24. Exploring cross-resource impacts of urban sustainability measures : an urban climate-land-energy-water nexus analysis
Sammanfattning : In an increasingly urban world, cities' global resource uses grow. Two fundamental resources for making cities liveable are water and energy. These resources are also closely interlinked – systems that convert and deliver energy to cities require water, and urban water systems use energy. LÄS MER
25. Evaluation of suitable nursery areas for penaeid shrimps in shallow water systems in southern Mozambique
Sammanfattning : Tropical shallow water habitats such as estuaries, mangrove forests and seagrass beds are important nursery areas for juveniles of many commercially important species including penaeid shrimp. Penaeids are one of the most important fishery resources worldwide, and in Mozambique they are the basis of a profitable commercial fishery, landing hundreds of tons per year. LÄS MER
