  1. 11. Nanocomposite films for corrosion protection

    Författare :Majid Sababi; Jinshan Pan; J.M.C. (Arjan) Mol; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; corrosion protection; nanocomposite; coating; tool alloy; layer‐by‐layer; polarization; passivity; nanomechanical; topography; Mefp‐ 1; ceria nanoparticle; PAni; UV‐cure; AFM; Peak Force QNM; EIS; SEM; CRM; QCM‐D; ATR‐FTIR;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes technical and scientific aspects of new types of composite films/coatings for corrosion protection of carbon steel, composite films with nanometer thickness consisting of mussel adhesive protein (Mefp‐1) and ceria nanoparticles, and polymeric composite coatings with micrometre thickness consisting of conducting polymer and ceria nanoparticles in a UV‐curing polyester acrylate (PEA) resin.The influence of microstructure on corrosion behaviour was studied for a Fe‐Cr‐V‐N alloy containing micro‐sized nitrides with different chemical composition spread in martensitic alloy matrix. 2. 12. Enhanced heat transfer and tool wear in high-pressure coolant assisted turning of alloy 718

    Författare :Nageswaran Tamil Alagan; Tomas Beno; Uta Klement; Anders Wretland; Mikael Olsson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alloy 718; Cavitation; Coolant-boiling; High-pressure coolant; Heat dissipation; Leidenfrost effect; Textured insert; Tungsten carbide; Tool life; Tool wear; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Heat generated in a machining process is a common and critical obstacle faced in today's manufacturing industries. The heat generated in the cutting zone has adirect negative influence on the tool life, which, in turn contributes to increasing the manufacturing costs. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Performance Testing of Cutting Fluids and Tool Holders in Metal Cutting

    Författare :Varun Nayyar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chip Microstructure; Torque; Drilling; Compressed air; Turning; Tool-holding; Force.; Tapping; Keyword: Cutting Fluid;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTThe metal cutting industry has evolved over the last century to the point where an increasing range and complexity of tool holding systems and cutting fluids are available for metal machining in the market. Most of the companies report their cutting fluid cost to be between 7 -17 % of the manufacturing cost. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Process chain simulation of forming, welding and heat treatment of Alloy 718

    Författare :Joachim Steffenburg-Nordenström; Lars-Erik Svensson; Lars-Erik Lindgren; Fredrik Niklasson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Forming; Welding; Stress relieve annealing; Heat treatment; Finite Element Simulation; Manufacturing process chain; Alloy 718; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Manufacturing of aero engine components requires attention to residual stress and final shape of the product in order to meet high quality product standards.This sets very high demands on involved manufacturing steps to meet design requirements. LÄS MER

  5. 15. On Tool Failure in Die Casting

    Författare :Anders Persson; Sture Hogmark; Jens Bergström; Torsten Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Sammanfattning : Die casting is a very cost-efficient method of forming thin-walled and complex near net-shaped products with close geometric tolerances and good surface finish. A permanent die tool is used to make large quantities of identical products. The performance and tool life are limited by several mechanisms, e.g. LÄS MER
