  1. 1. Surface nanomechanical properties of hydrogels and coatings

    Författare :Gen Li; Per M. Claesson; Jan van Stam; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanomechanical properties; nanotribology; nanowear; poly-HEMA; poly-NIPAm; Cellulose nanocrystals; AFM; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Characterizing mechanical and wear properties at the nanometer scale emerged as a fascinating and challenging topic in the last decades due to recognition of many interesting and unusual properties of nanomaterials. Due to recent developments of the atomic force microscopy (AFM) technique, it is now possible to measure nanomechanical properties and topography simultaneously, as well as performing and evaluating wear measurements at the nanometer scale.     Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; corrosion protection; nanocomposite; coating; tool alloy; layer‐by‐layer; polarization; passivity; nanomechanical; topography; Mefp‐ 1; ceria nanoparticle; PAni; UV‐cure; AFM; Peak Force QNM; EIS; SEM; CRM; QCM‐D; ATR‐FTIR;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes technical and scientific aspects of new types of composite films/coatings for corrosion protection of carbon steel, composite films with nanometer thickness consisting of mussel adhesive protein (Mefp‐1) and ceria nanoparticles, and polymeric composite coatings with micrometre thickness consisting of conducting polymer and ceria nanoparticles in a UV‐curing polyester acrylate (PEA) resin.The influence of microstructure on corrosion behaviour was studied for a Fe‐Cr‐V‐N alloy containing micro‐sized nitrides with different chemical composition spread in martensitic alloy matrix. 3. 3. Nanomechanical Phenomena in Low-Dimensional Structures

    Författare :Anton Vikström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; superconductivity; acoustic sensors; heat flow; NEMS; surface acoustic waves; solitons; viscoelasticity; electronic edge states;

    Sammanfattning : This is a compilation thesis which investigates various mechanical phenomena in different low-dimensional nanoscale systems. In the first part, we consider a purely mechanical phenomenon: the sensitivity of the dispersion of a Love-type surface acoustic wave (SAW) to geometry and material parameters. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nanomechanical Studies and Applications of Cantilever Sensors

    Författare :Sara Ghatnekar-Nilsson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; Physics; resonating; mass sensor; Young s modulus; CMOS; cantilevers; electron beam lithography; liquid;

    Sammanfattning : Different aspects of cantilevers to be used as sensors have been studied. Silicon cantilevers have been fabricated and integrated on CMOS chips using low-energy electron beam lithography in order to reduce the irradiation damage to the circuits. The released and integrated cantilevers have been tested and used as mass sensors in air. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Diffusion-Induced Nonlinear Dynamics in Carbon Nanomechanical Resonators

    Författare :Christin Edblom; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mass sensing; graphene; stochastic differential equations; diffusion; carbon nanotubes; resonators; nanoelectromechanical systems; equations of motion; nonlinear dynamics; dissipation; Fokker-Planck equation; noise; nonequilibrium dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : The emergence of nanoelectromechanical systems has enabled the development of sensors capable of detecting mass, charge, force, position, and spin with an unprecedented precision. In particular, the low mass, high resonant frequency, and high quality factor of carbon nanomechanical resonators make them ideal for the creation of a high sensitivity mass sensor. LÄS MER
