  1. 21. Production of high quality 11C beams for radiation treatment and accurate PET-CT dose delivery verification

    Sammanfattning : Radiation therapy with external beams of positron emitter light ions offers the optimal solution for simultaneously treating and in vivo monitoring the delivery of the dose in 3D with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) or PET-Computed Tomography (CT) imaging. Specifically, positron emitter light ion beams merge the main distinctive advantages of light ion therapy, namely a high conformal and biological effective dose delivery to the tumor, an optimal penumbra, and sparing of the surrounding normal tissues, with the advantage of a high β+-activity signal mainly produced directly by the beam itself, and therefore not primarily dependent on the specific stoichiometry of the body tissues.     Sammanfattning : In this thesis, multiple ionisation processes of free atoms and molecules upon single photon absorption are studied by means of a versatile multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy method based on a magnetic bottle, primarily in combination with synchrotron radiation. The latter offered the possibility to access not only valence but also core levels, revealing processes, which promote the target systems into different charge states. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis highlights the research and development of a new plastic-scintillator detector for time-of-flight measurements in relativistic heavy-ion beam experiments.     Sammanfattning : This thesis describes bioanalysis of small and large molecules in biological matrices and includes screening of illegal drugs in urine with high resolution mass spectrometer, bioanalysis of MTH1 inhibitors in mice plasma and quantification of proteins in plasma and cell lysates.Screening of illegal drugs was based on high resolving power mass spectrometer (QTOF) and the results were compared to immunoassays.
