1. Bright and strain-tunable semiconductor quantum dot devices
Sammanfattning : Optically active semiconductor quantum dots have proven to be excellent single- and entangled-photon sources, with applications in quantum optics and quantum photonics. These sources are considered crucial in the development of future photonic quantum technology, such as quantum communication, quantum computation and quantum metrology. LÄS MER
2. Quantum Correlations and Temperature Fluctuations in Nanoscale Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses two different topics related to the physics of nanoscale systems. The first topic concerns quantum correlations and entanglement between electrons in solid-state systems, with a focus on how to generate electronic orbital entanglement on a sub-decoherence time scale and how to achieve experimentally more feasible entanglement detection schemes. 3. Att ta ställning : Gymnasieelevers argumentation och beslutsfattande om sociovetenskapliga dilemman
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to explore students’ argumentation and decision-making relating to authentic socioscientific issues (SSI). The ability to make informed decisions about socio scientific issues has been recognized to be an important element in science education to achieve the goal of scientific literacy. LÄS MER
4. Entanglement detection schemes and coherent manipulation of spin in quantum dots
Sammanfattning : The work contained in this thesis deals with two closely related topics. Papers I-III deal with charge transport statistics in nanoscale devices to investigate the presence of entanglement in the constituent electrons. We identify the contributions of entangled electron pairs to the current cross-correlations as a signature of entanglement. LÄS MER
5. The Global Fashion System : On its social-ecological intertwinedness
Sammanfattning : The fashion industry contributes to shaping the state of the planet: impacts of production and consumption of textile fast-fashion are rising, and the growing number of sustainability-oriented actions have not slowed current trends. The industry’s (un)sustainability is mainly researched within two epistemic communities: fashion studies concerned with social sustainability, and circular economy focused on material biophysical and technological aspects of material cycles along the value chain.
