  1. 1. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity

    Författare :Marius Sommer; Louise Rönnqvist; Charlotte Häger; Nicola Hodges; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motor timing; rhythmicity; timing training; golf shot; golf swing; kinematics; precision; variability; coordination; movement dynamics; soccer; fMRI; mirror neurons; action observation; cerebellum; perception - action.; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer. 2. 2. Exposure to xenobiotic chemicals disrupts metabolism, rhythmicity and cell proliferation in Drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Hao Cao; Helgi B. Schiöth; Michael J. Williams; Jan Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; xenobiotics; metabolism; insulin signalling; circadian rhythm; carcinogen; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Most species are constantly exposed to xenobiotic chemicals through multiple routes. Among all categories of xenobiotics, phthalates and bisphenols are two of the most widely used plasticizers and can be found in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials, medical devices and even drinking water. 3. 3. Nutrient-regulated skeletal muscle metabolism and circadian clock

    Författare :Laura Sardon Puig; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of obesity has tripled in the last four decades, becoming a major risk for the development of cardiometabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes. Obesity is associated with pathological storage of lipids in skeletal muscle, causing a major disturbance in metabolism. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Voltage sensor movements in shaker and HCN channels

    Författare :Roope Männikkö; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Voltage-gated ion channels are crucial for electrical signaling in living organisms. They are composed of four similar subunits with six transmembrane α-helices, S1-S6. Each subunit contains a voltage-sensing domain, S1-S4, and an ion-conducting pore domain, S5-S6. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The interplay of ions in the stimulation of the pancreatic -cell

    Författare :Michael Eberhardson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; diabetes; pancreatic β-cells; cytoplasmic calcium; oscillations; glucose; tetrodotoxin; tolbutamide; veratridine; tetraethylammonium; quinine; cesium; H2DIDS; furosemide; transients; microfluorometry; fura-2; MQAE; calcium channels; potassium channels; sodium channels; chloride channels; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Glucose stimulation of insulin release is mediated by depolarisation of the pancreatic β-cells with accompanying entry of Ca2+ through voltage-dependent channels. An important feature of the glucose-induced depolarisation is its rhythmicity causing oscillations of the cytoplasmic Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i), which trigger pulsatile release of insulin. LÄS MER
