1. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity
Sammanfattning : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer. 2. Exposure to xenobiotic chemicals disrupts metabolism, rhythmicity and cell proliferation in Drosophila melanogaster
Sammanfattning : Most species are constantly exposed to xenobiotic chemicals through multiple routes. Among all categories of xenobiotics, phthalates and bisphenols are two of the most widely used plasticizers and can be found in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials, medical devices and even drinking water. 3. Nutrient-regulated skeletal muscle metabolism and circadian clock
Sammanfattning : The prevalence of obesity has tripled in the last four decades, becoming a major risk for the development of cardiometabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes. Obesity is associated with pathological storage of lipids in skeletal muscle, causing a major disturbance in metabolism. LÄS MER
4. Voltage sensor movements in shaker and HCN channels
Sammanfattning : Voltage-gated ion channels are crucial for electrical signaling in living organisms. They are composed of four similar subunits with six transmembrane α-helices, S1-S6. Each subunit contains a voltage-sensing domain, S1-S4, and an ion-conducting pore domain, S5-S6. LÄS MER
5. The interplay of ions in the stimulation of the pancreatic -cell
Sammanfattning : Glucose stimulation of insulin release is mediated by depolarisation of the pancreatic β-cells with accompanying entry of Ca2+ through voltage-dependent channels. An important feature of the glucose-induced depolarisation is its rhythmicity causing oscillations of the cytoplasmic Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i), which trigger pulsatile release of insulin. LÄS MER
