  2. 2. Upper limb assessment and treatment in cerebral palsy

    Författare :Izabela Blaszczyk; Mikael Wiberg; Louise Rönnqvist; Ann van Heest; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cerebral palsy; upper limb; botulinum toxin type A; upper limb surgery; side effects; thumb assessment; handkirurgi; hand surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Cerebral palsy (CP) is a heterogeneous group of neurological disorders caused by fetal or infant brain damage that often involves deficits in upper limb (UL) posture and function. Knowledge about effective methods of assessment and treatment of UL in CP is not extensive. In this thesis, different aspects of these two are explored. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of functional asymmetries in young infants : A sensory-motor approach

    Författare :Erik Domellöf; Louise Rönnqvist; Jacqueline Fagard; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Laterality; development; handedness; human infant; stepping response; placing response; head turning; arm movement; reaching; kinematic parameters; intralimb coordination; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human functional laterality, typically involving a right-sided preference in most sensory-motor activities, is still a poorly understood issue. This is perhaps particularly true in terms of what underlying mechanisms that may govern lateral biases, as well as the developmental origins and course of events. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Stepping, placing and headturning biases in newborn infants : A neurodevelopmental perspective

    Författare :Erik Domellöf; Louise Rönnqvist; Marian Jongmans; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis the stepping, placing and head turning responses in healthy humanfullterm newborns are investigated. The main focus is put on a study of these newbornresponses in relation to functional asymmetries, while at the same time exploring anddiscussing different factors that possibly can affect the outcome of such studies. 5. 5. Predictive action in infancy : Evidence of early prospective behavior

    Författare :Qi Feng; Louise Rönnqvist; Mikael Heimann; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : How do young infants understand and act on their constantly changing environment? An action perspective on motor development was taken into account. The present thesis investigated perception guided predictive action in 6-month-old infants, namely, head tracking and reaching for an object moving on a pre-defined trajectory, linear or nonlinear, fully visible or partially occluded.
