  1. 1. Exploring models of time processing : effects of training and modality, and the relationship with cognition in rhythmic motor tasks

    Författare :Olympia Karampela; Guy Madison; Linus Holm; Fredrik Ullén; Simon Grondin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; timing; motor timing; cogntion; dedicated models; intrinsic models; timing variability;

    Sammanfattning : Timing can be defined as the ability to perceive temporal sequences and regulate timed behaviors. As in other animals, our ability to make accurate time estimations is crucial in order to accomplish several activities. Organisms can process time over a wide range of durations ranging from microseconds to days. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity

    Författare :Marius Sommer; Louise Rönnqvist; Charlotte Häger; Nicola Hodges; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motor timing; rhythmicity; timing training; golf shot; golf swing; kinematics; precision; variability; coordination; movement dynamics; soccer; fMRI; mirror neurons; action observation; cerebellum; perception - action.; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer. 3. 3. Fine motor timing ability - A study of syllable repetition and finger tapping in adults with developmental stuttering or Parkinson's disease compared with healthy adults

    Författare :Maria Sundqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; motor timing; synchronization; finger tapping; syllable repetition; Developmental stuttering; Parkinson s disease;

    Sammanfattning : Aim and methods: The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the fine motor timing ability as manifested by speech motor and fine hand motor activity in persons with developmental stuttering or Parkinson’s disease, and in healthy adults. A test method for systematic comparison between speech motor timing and fine hand motor control was developed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ontogenetic and comparative aspects of cerebellar and motor development

    Författare :Maria Christensson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurologi; neurophysiology; Neurology; neuropsychology; Medicine human and vertebrates ; time-translation; cross-species; cerebellum; motor adaptation; development; ferret; external granular layer; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : During the course of development the motor repertoire of animals and humans alike go through dramatic changes. New motor patterns arise; movements become coordinated, improve in precision and are at the same time continuously calibrated to the changing body dimensions. The cerebellum is critical for movement coordination and adaptation in adults. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On the role of transversus abdominis in trunk motor control

    Författare :Martin Eriksson Crommert; Peter Engfeldt; Alf Thorstensson; Maria Ekblom; Birgitta Öberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :transversus abdominis; trunk muscles; EMG; intramuscular; IAP; motor control; postural control; spine stability; postural demand; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : All trunk muscles are important contributors to spine stability. However, the deepest abdominal muscle, transversus abdominis (TrA), with its characteristically horizontal fibre orientation seems to serve a unique function in trunk motor control. LÄS MER
