21. Clinical and immunological studies of respiratory allergy among farmers : with focus on dust mite allergy
Sammanfattning : Many studies have shown an increase in the prevalence of asthma and rhinoconjunctivitis in most of the industrialised world. In addition, occupational asthma, rhinoconjunctivitis and allergies have increased during the last decade. LÄS MER
22. In search of lost disease : Clinical, qualitative and imaging studies to investigate long-term effects of autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation for multiple sclerosis
Sammanfattning : With the introduction of autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS), there are now individuals living without experiencing disease activity of MS. Are they cured? There is a need for terminology to describe the state of these individuals. LÄS MER
23. Studies on antioxidant and lipid lowering effects on human microcirculation
Sammanfattning : In previous work from this laboratory, vital microscopy was successfully used to study rnicrocirculatcry effects of hypercholesterolemia in a rabbit model. Hypercholesterolemia caused a dramatic depression of the blood flow velocity in the conjunctiva microvessels of the rabbits. LÄS MER
24. Hydration, pore structure, and related moisture properties of fly ash blended cement-based materials : Experimental methods and laboratory measurements
Sammanfattning : Cement-based materials, such as mortar and concrete, are the most employed construction materials in the world. Cement is an important component; it reacts with water to form a glue, called cement paste, which causes the material to harden. Today, cement production accounts for a significant portion of the world’s annual carbon dioxide emissions. LÄS MER
25. Retroviral and related nucleic acid processing enzymes expression and detection : Applications on clinical studies of HIV and HERVs
Sammanfattning : Reverse transcriptase (RT), the expression and detection of the enzyme marking the family Retroviridae, has been studied. A new RT activity assay adapted to 96-well microtitre plates is described. It uses a non- radioactive bromodeoxyuridine triphosphate (BrdUTP) substrate in a solid phase format. The assay was highly sensitive. LÄS MER
