  1. 1. Retroviral and related nucleic acid processing enzymes expression and detection : Applications on clinical studies of HIV and HERVs

    Författare :Raymond Awad; Amnon Hizi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Reverse transcriptase; endogenous retrovirus; deoxycytidine kinase; HIV; HERVS; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Reverse transcriptase (RT), the expression and detection of the enzyme marking the family Retroviridae, has been studied. A new RT activity assay adapted to 96-well microtitre plates is described. It uses a non- radioactive bromodeoxyuridine triphosphate (BrdUTP) substrate in a solid phase format. The assay was highly sensitive. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Human Endogenous Retroviruses: Studies on Transcriptional Activity and Genetic Variability

    Författare :Patrik Medstrand; Malmö Klinisk virologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; virology; bacteriology; HERVs; Human endogenous retrovirus sequences; reverse transcriptase; Microbiology; differential RNA expression.; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) are believed to be remains of germ-line infections that have become fixed in the population. They are involved in pathophysiological conditions, in mechanisms leading to infection protection, and directly in the physiology of the organism by participating in the regulation of cellular gene expression. 3. 3. Studies on Human Endogenous Retroviruses (HERVs) with Special Focus on ERV3

    Författare :Ann-Catrin Andersson; Bengt Widegren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; human endogenous retroviruses; HERV; ERV3; expression; in situ hybridisation; real-time PCR; U-937; retinoic acid.; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) represent approximately 7% of the human genome. This investigation was focused on one particular HERV, ERV3, with the main purpose of characterising its gene expression patterns and genomic distribution of ERV3-like sequences. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Transcription, splicing and genetic structure within the human endogenous retroviral HERV-H family

    Författare :Mats Lindeskog; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; immunosuppressive envelope protein; RNA splicing; Human endogenous retrovirus; transcription; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) are remains of ancient retroviral infections of the germ line and constitute as much as 3 % of the human genome. HERVs are genetic elements that potentially may provide important biological functions by several different mechanisms. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Human Endogenous Retroviruses: Expression and Evolutionary Relationships

    Författare :Marie-Louise Andersson; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mikrobiologi; mycology; virology; bacteriology; Microbiology; bakteriologi; expression; transcription; reverse transcriptase; HERV; phylogeny; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The human genome contains genetic elements which are more or less similar to infectious retroviruses. These are called human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) and are thought to be remnants of infections in the primate lineage. LÄS MER
