  1. 26. Characterization of ATP-dependent protein dynamics under native-like conditions

    Författare :Harsha Ravishankar; Magnus Andersson; Hans Wolf-Watz; Lise Arleth; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proteins; membrane proteins; structural dynamics; ATPases; MD simulations; X-ray scattering; FTIR spectroscopy; ATP; TR-XSS; structural biology.; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are biological macromolecules capable of accelerating biochemical reactions. To accomplish this, proteins undergo changes in their molecular structure. Advances in structural biology have resulted in ever-increasing numbers of high-resolution protein structures. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Theoretical studies of blue copper proteins

    Författare :Mats H M Olsson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum chemistry; metal-thiolate bonds; axial ligation; electron transfer proteins; reduction potential; reorganisation energy; Cu II ; Cu I ; strain; Induced-rack theory; Entatic state theory; cytochrome c oxidase; CuA; nitrite reductase; azurin; Blue copper proteins; plastocyanin; B3LYP; CASPT2; Soil Science; agricultural hydrology; Lantbrukshydrologi; marklära;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a critical investigation is presented about the role of mechanical strain for the electron-transfer properties of the blue copper proteins. It has been found that the structure of a realistic model complex of the oxidised blue-copper active site, optimised in vacuum with the B3LYP method, has the same trigonal cupric geometry as in the protein. 3. 28. Magnesium Chelatase: Insights into the first Step of Chlorophyll Biosynthesis

    Författare :Nick Sirijovski; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron microscopy; Proteobacteria; Mutants; Rhodobacter capsulatus; Tetrapyrrole; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Proteins; enzymologi; enzymology; Proteiner; Chlorophyll biosynthesis; AAA proteins; Magnesium chelatase; Barley; ATPase;

    Sammanfattning : The enzyme magnesium chelatase inserts magnesium into protoporphyrin IX (Proto) to produce to magnesium protoporphyrin IX, the first unique intermediate of the chlorophyll biosynthetic pathway. Magnesium chelatase is composed of three distinct proteins termed I (molecular weight ~40 kDa), D (~70 kDa) and H (~140 kDa). LÄS MER

  4. 29. Dangerous Proteins and Where to Find Them- Structural and functional studies of bacterial and viral proteins interacting with human immune receptors in health and disease

    Författare :Sibel Uzuncayir; Medicinsk strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proteins; immunology; structural biology;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria and viruses are threats to human that evolved strategies to bypass the immune system and can cause massive damage. Understanding these strategies and elucidating pathogen interacting partners within the human immune system will pave the way for discovery of new medicines and increase human well-being. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Separation of Proteins with Capillary Electrophoresis in Coated Capillaries with and without Electroosmosis : Studies on Zone Broadening and Analytical Performances

    Författare :Sheila Mohabbati; Douglas Westerlund; Bo Karlberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmaceutical chemistry; Capillary electrophoresis; capillary coatings; proteins; zone broadening; zone sharpening; efficiency; resolution; protein-surface adsorption; protein-buffer interaction; analytical performance; Farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins have such structural features that they may interact with different types of surfaces by all possible forces, i.e., electrostatic, hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic. In this thesis two different types of coatings for fused silica capillaries aimed to eliminate such interactions have been studied. LÄS MER
