  1. 6. Protein-Protein Interactions Affecting Protein-Surface Interactions

    Författare :Peter H. Warkentin; Jeff M. Schakenraad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is the behaviour of proteins towards surfaces in the presence of other protein species. General protein-protein interactions of some plasma proteins are investigated in the first four papers. The proteins, immunoglobulin G, albumin, and fibrinogen, are analysed in solutions of single proteins as well as controlled mixtures. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Photochemical Surface Functionalization : Synthesis, Nanochemistry and Glycobiological Studies

    Författare :Lingquan Deng; Olof Ramström; Javier Rojo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrates; Glycobiology; Carbohydrate-protein interactions; Perfluorophenylazide PFPA ; Photochemistry; Carbohydrate surface immobilization; Carbohydrate microarrays; Surface plasmon resonance SPR ; Quartz crystal microbalance QCM ; Atomic force microscopy AFM ; Glyconanomaterials; Concanavalin A Con A ; Cyanovirin-N CV-N ; 1-Glycosyl thiols; Mutarotation; 1-S-glycosylation; Stereocontrol;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis mainly deals with the development of photochemical approaches to immobilize carbohydrates on surfaces for glycobiological studies. These approaches have been incorporated into a number of state-of-the-art nanobio-platforms, including carbohydrate microarrays, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and glyconanomaterials. 3. 8. Protein Nanomaterials: : Functionalization, Self-assembly, and Applications

    Författare :Lei Wang; Niclas Solin; Olle Inganäs; German Salazar-Alvarez; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : As one of the major classes of materials that is relevant to biological function of our daily life, proteins are highly interesting in both biological and material science. Self-assembled protein amyloid nanostructures have been considered not only as aggregates in pathological tissue, but also as a kind of advanced one dimension materials in material science perspective due to their favorable characteristics including high aspect ratio, abundant surface charge groups, high stability, and tunable surface properties. 4. 9. Unravelling protein stability and aggregation

    Författare :Tanja Weiffert; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein stability; protein aggregation; amyloid beta peptide; protein stabilization; split GFP; monellin; secretagogin; ; aggregation kinetics; toxicity; aggregation mechanism; coaggregation;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are complex macromolecules that are fundamental to all living species. The stability of proteins are governed by non-covalent forces within the protein and between the protein and its surrounding environment. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Protein modularity : Structure and interactions by NMR and SPR

    Författare :Amélie Wallenhammar; Maria Sunnerhagen; Björn Wallner; Lotta Tollstoy-Tegler; Helena Berglund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Protein degradation is a fundamental cornerstone of regulation of protein levels in the human body. For proper function, numerous molecular processes rely on fine-tuned communication through specific interactions between proteins. LÄS MER
