  1. 1. Photochemical Surface Functionalization : Synthesis, Nanochemistry and Glycobiological Studies

    Författare :Lingquan Deng; Olof Ramström; Javier Rojo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrates; Glycobiology; Carbohydrate-protein interactions; Perfluorophenylazide PFPA ; Photochemistry; Carbohydrate surface immobilization; Carbohydrate microarrays; Surface plasmon resonance SPR ; Quartz crystal microbalance QCM ; Atomic force microscopy AFM ; Glyconanomaterials; Concanavalin A Con A ; Cyanovirin-N CV-N ; 1-Glycosyl thiols; Mutarotation; 1-S-glycosylation; Stereocontrol;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis mainly deals with the development of photochemical approaches to immobilize carbohydrates on surfaces for glycobiological studies. These approaches have been incorporated into a number of state-of-the-art nanobio-platforms, including carbohydrate microarrays, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and glyconanomaterials. 2. 2. Avian Influenza Virus : Deciphering receptor interactions and their role in interspecies transmission

    Författare :Per Eriksson; Patrik Ellström; Björn Olsen; Josef D. Järhult; Åke Lundkvist; Jonas Waldenström; Hans-Dieter Klenk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; birds; glycobiology; glycovirology; host range; mixing vessel; virus attachment; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Influenza A virus (IAV) annually infects approximately 5–15 % of the human population, causing ~500,000 deaths globally. Novel IAVs have emerged and spread pandemically in the human population, but have over time established endemic circulation with reduced pathogenicity causing seasonal influenza. The natural reservoir of IAVs is wild waterfowl. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Targeting the human glycoproteome: new enrichment protocols and mass spectrometric analyses reveal unique and novel glycosylation sites

    Författare :Adnan Halim; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glycobiology; Glycoproteomics; Mass Spectrometry;

    Sammanfattning : Glycosylation is one of the most common and structurally diverse posttranslational modifications of proteins. Given that protein glycosylation is involved in various cellular processes, the characterization of site-specific N- and O-linked glycosylations is becoming increasingly important. However, current mass spectrometry-based technologies, i.e. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Herpesvirus-induced glycans: Selectin ligands and related structures on the surface of the infected cell

    Författare :Rickard Nordén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Virology; Glycobiology; Herpesvirus; Selectin ligand;

    Sammanfattning : Human herpesviruses are usually acquired early in life and are widely distributed in the population. A common feature of all human herpesviruses is that they persist in the host after the primary infection. LÄS MER
