  1. 31. Heterogeneous Integration of Shape Memory Alloysfor High-Performance Microvalves

    Författare :Henrik Gradin; Göran Stemme; Peter Woias; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Microelectromechanical systems; MEMS; silicon; wafer-level; integration; heterogeneous integration; wafer bonding; Au-Si; eutectic bonding; release etching; electrochemical etching; microvalves; microactuators; shape memory alloy; SMA; NiTinol; TiNi; NiTi; cold-state reset; bias spring; gate valves; wire bonding;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents methods for fabricating MicroElectroMechanical System (MEMS) actuators and high-flow gas microvalves using wafer-level integration of Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) in the form of wires and sheets. The work output per volume of SMA actuators exceeds that of other microactuation mechanisms, such as electrostatic, magnetic and piezoelectric actuation, by more than an order of magnitude, making SMA actuators highly promising for applications requiring high forces and large displacements. 2. 32. Partial CO2 capture to facilitate cost-efficient deployment of carbon capture and storage in process industries - Deliberations on process design, heat integration, and carbon allocation

    Författare :Max Biermann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbon allocation; Partial CO2 capture; process industry; techno-economic assessment; CCS; heat recovery; amine absorption;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change requires that all energy-related sectors reduce drastically their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, at a global rate of 1–2 GtCO2 per year, starting now. Process industries, such as the iron and steel, cement, petrochemical, and oil-refining industries, are inherently carbon-intensive, and carbon capture and storage (CCS) is one of the few options available to achieve the required deep reductions in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. 3. 33. Transnational Party Alliances : Analysing the Hard-Won Alliance Between Conservatives and Christian Democrats in the European Parliament

    Författare :Karl Magnus Johansson; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Political and administrative sciences; transnational.; arena; Alliance; autonomy; Christian Democrat; Conservative; constraint; identity; integration; motive; opportunity; process; political party; förvaltningskunskap; Statsvetenskap; förvaltningskunskap; alliance;

    Sammanfattning : This study examines processes of transnational alliance-building among political parties in the European Union (EU). It is associated with theories of transnational relations, neofunctionalist integration theory and domestic politics approaches to international co-operation and integration. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Operability Considerations for Retrofit Design of Industrial Process Energy Systems

    Författare :Sofie Marton; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Interviews; Steam System; Heat integration; Implementation; Operability; Non-energy benefits;

    Sammanfattning : Energy efficiency is crucial to reduce fuel usage and related emissions in industry.  In energy-intensive process industry, the use of heat accounts for a large share of the total energy use and a reduction of the heating and cooling demand is thus important for decreasing energy use. 5. 35. Techno-economic evaluation of integrated lignocellulosic ethanol production

    Författare :Elisabeth Joelsson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; distillers dried grain with solubles; biorefinery; modelling; Aspen Plus; biogas; logging residues; spruce; wheat straw; wheat grain; heat; integration; pinch analysis; techno-economic evaluation; first generation; second generation; Ethanol; Lignocellulosic material;

    Sammanfattning : Sweden has claimed that it wants to have a fossil-free vehicle fleet in 2030 as a milestone of its ambitious goal for 2050 to be a country with a sustainable and resource-efficient energy supply without any net GHG emissions. Production of bioethanol from plant materials is one potential method of meeting this goal. LÄS MER
