1. Heterogeneous Integration of Shape Memory Alloysfor High-Performance Microvalves
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents methods for fabricating MicroElectroMechanical System (MEMS) actuators and high-flow gas microvalves using wafer-level integration of Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) in the form of wires and sheets. The work output per volume of SMA actuators exceeds that of other microactuation mechanisms, such as electrostatic, magnetic and piezoelectric actuation, by more than an order of magnitude, making SMA actuators highly promising for applications requiring high forces and large displacements. 2. Wafer-level heterogeneous integration of MEMS actuators
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents methods for the wafer-level integration of shape memory alloy (SMA) and electrostatic actuators to functionalize MEMS devices. The integration methods are based on heterogeneous integration, which is the integration of different materials and technologies. LÄS MER
3. Molecular Simulations of Microstructure, Thermodynamics, and Dynamics of Complex Liquid Mixtures at Interfaces and Confined Spaces
Sammanfattning : In modern chemical engineering, process intensification is realised by introducing a nano- or micro-interface. The introduction of such an interface breaks the homogeneous nature of the fluid and forms a unique nano- or micro-interfacial structure, which has a significant impact on the properties of fluids. 4. Pharmaceutical cocrystals : formation mechanisms, solubility behaviour and solid-state properties
Sammanfattning : The primary aim of pharmaceutical materials engineering is the successful formulation and process development of pharmaceutical products. The diversity of solid forms available offers attractive opportunities for tailoring material properties. LÄS MER
5. Characterization of Pathfinders and Indicators of Gold
Sammanfattning : Research on natural minerals and their chemical bonding to economically critical raw materials is a viable industrially relevant research area due to its increasing demand. Meeting demands requires fast, robust, and efficient techniques to explore new ore deposits and continuous operation of active mines as well as recycling. LÄS MER
