1. DNA repair and the p53 pathway in ischemic and traumatic brain injury
Sammanfattning : Ischemic and traumatic brain damage are major causes of disability and death. While much effort has been spent to develop pharmacological treatments for these conditions, no neuroprotective drugs are in clinical use. LÄS MER
2. Pharmacological targeting of p53 pathway alterations in tumors
Sammanfattning : The p53 tumor suppressor plays an important role in cell fate decisions upon diverse stress conditions. In response to stress, p53 functions as a transcription factor, activating transcription of a variety of its target genes responsible for several cellular responses, most importantly cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. 3. Molecular Genetic Analysis in B-cell Lymphomas : A Focus on the p53 Pathway and p16INK4a
Sammanfattning : The presence of TP53 mutations has been associated with inferior outcome in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). In DLBCL, the impact of the TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and MDM2 SNP309 has not been clearly elucidated, whereas MDM2 SNP309 was suggested as a poor-prognostic marker in CLL. LÄS MER
4. p53-dependent and -independent mechanisms of p53-targeting small molecules
Sammanfattning : Tumor suppressor p53 (Tp53) is mutated in around half of human cancers, while in wild type p53 cells its activity is continuously inhibited by MDM2 through proteasome degradation resulting in the loss of its function. Currently, cancer treatments with small molecules based on reactivation of wild type p53 and restoration of mutant p53 have moved to clinical trials and exhibited promising anti-cancer effects. 5. Optimizing experimental radioimmunotherapy : investigating the different mechanisms behind radiation induced cell deaths
Sammanfattning : Background. Radiation therapy is an important treatment regimen for malignant disease. Radiation therapy uses ionizing radiation to induce DNA damage in tumor cells in order to kill them. LÄS MER
