  1. 1. Equine glutathione transferase A3-3 : an efficient steroid isomerase

    Författare :Helena Lindström; Bengt Mannervik; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Equine; glutatione transferase; steroidogenesis; steroid isomerase; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Glutathione transferases (GSTs) comprise a superfamily of enzymes prominently involved in detoxication by making toxic electrophiles more polar and therefore more easily excretable. However some GSTs have developed alternative functions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Synchronized delivery of inspired nitric oxide : Effects on oxygenation and pulmonary tension during artificial ventilation

    Författare :Erkki Heinonen; Tim Higenbottam; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; nitric oxide; pulsed administration; pulmonary hypertension; oxygenation; equine; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Nitric oxide (NO) is a mediator of vascular smooth muscle tension that metabolises rapidly in blood. NO delivered by inhalation can therefore be used as a selective pulmonary vasodilator to relieve pulmonary hypertension or to improve oxygenation with no systemic effects. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Exploring the steroidogenic activity of glutathione transferases across species

    Författare :Helena Lindström; Bengt Mannervik; Kjell Wikvall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glutathione transferase; steroidogenesis; GST A3-3; testis; androstenedione; pregnenedione; equine; steroidogenesis inhibition; Drosophila GSTE14; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Glutathione transferases (GSTs) comprise a superfamily of enzymes prominently involved in detoxication. However, some GSTs have developed alternative functions. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers the nature of lifestyle-oriented work, i.e. making a livelihood based on leisure interest or personal lifestyle, and focuses on the perspective of employees within the Swedish equine sector. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Learning Spatiotemporal Features in Low-Data and Fine-Grained Action Recognition with an Application to Equine Pain Behavior

    Författare :Sofia Broomé; Hedvig Kjellström; Efstratios Gavves; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Equine pain; computer vision for animals; deep learning; deep video models; spatiotemporal features; video understanding; action recognition; frame dependency; video data; end-to-end learning; temporal modeling; Datalogi; Computer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Recognition of pain in animals is important because pain compromises animal welfare and can be a manifestation of disease. This is a difficult task for veterinarians and caretakers, partly because horses, being prey animals, display subtle pain behavior, and because they cannot verbalize their pain. LÄS MER
