1. Surface Engineering of Cellulose Nanofibers for Advanced Biocomposites
Sammanfattning : Nanocellulose, originated from cellulose, the primary structural component of the cell walls of plants, has garnered significant attention for its excellent mechanical, optical, and barrier properties, as well as its renewable and sustainable nature. Various forms of nanocellulose, including cellulose nanocrystals and cellulose nanofibers (CNFs), are produced by breaking down lignocellulosic fibers into nanoscale dimensions, typically through mechanical or chemical processes. 2. Investigation of electrochemical properties and performance of stimulation/sensing electrodes for pacemaker applications
Sammanfattning : People suffering from certain types of arrhythmia may benefit from the implantation of a cardiac pacemaker. Pacemakers artificially stimulate the heart by applying short electrical pulses to the cardiac tissue to restore and maintain a steady heart rhythm. By adjusting the pulse delivery rate the heart is stimulated to beat at desired pace. LÄS MER
3. Polymer Nanocomposites in Thin Film Applications
Sammanfattning : The introduction of a nanoscopic reinforcing phase to a polymer matrix offers great possibilities of obtaining improved properties, enabling applications outside the boundaries of traditional composites. The majority of the work in this thesis has been devoted to polymer/clay nanocomposites in coating applications, using the hydroxyl-functional hyperbranched polyester Boltorn® as matrix and montmorillonite clay as nanofiller. 4. Interface-Assisted Perovskite Modulations for High-Performance Light-Emitting Diodes
Sammanfattning : Metal halide perovskites have emerged as a class of promising materials for a wide range of optoelectronic devices. Compared with traditional inorganic and organic semiconductors, perovskite materials can be easily processed via solution-based techniques at low temperatures and exhibit high photo-luminescence efficiency, outstanding colour purity, and superior charge transport properties, showing great promise for cost-effective and high-performance light-emitting diodes (LEDs). 5. Functional composite coatings containing conducting polymers
Sammanfattning : Organic coatings are widely used to lower the corrosion rate of metallic structures. However, penetration of water, oxygen and corrosive ions through pores present in the coating results in corrosion initiation and propagation once these species reach the metal substrate. LÄS MER
