6. Dialogue Lost? Teaching Musical Interpretation of Western Classical Music in Higher Education
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to contribute to a better understanding of musical interpretation in teaching and learning Western classical music from both a teacher’s and student’s perspective within the context of piano main instrument teaching in higher music education in Sweden. The following research questions were formulated to fulfil this aim: first, how do teachers and students understand musical interpretation as educational content?; second, how do teachers and students understand teaching and learning of musical interpretation?; third and finally, how could verbal and musical dialogues be used for improving teaching and learning of musical interpretation?The thesis employs an overarching hermeneutical framework and consists of three movements. Sammanfattning : A realization of a locally analytic function is basically a way of expressing the function in terms of the resolvent of a self-adjoint operator. In the classical Hilbert space setting realizations correspond in an essentially one-to-one way to Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions. LÄS MER

9. Spectra of elliptic operators and applications
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we consider several problems related to elliptic equations. Namely, we investigate Helmholtz and Maxwell's equations in Paper I and Sturm-Liouville spectral problem in Papers II,III. In Paper I we study time-harmonic electromagnetic and acoustic waveguide, modeled by an in�nite cylinder with a non-smooth cross section. LÄS MER
10. On Matching Markets
Sammanfattning : This thesis gives a contribution to matching theory. It examines three one-to-one matching models: the roommate problem, the partnership formation problem and the assignment game. In the former two, it is known that stable matchings may not exist. In the latter, stable outcomes do exist; we examine if they still do if we generalize the model. LÄS MER
