  1. 1. Sounds of silence : Phonological awareness and written language in children with and without speech

    Författare :Janna Ferreira; Jerker Rönnberg; Åsa Wengelin; Stefan Gustafson; Annika Dahlgren Sandberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; phonological awareness; intervention; motor speech impairment; reading impairment; reading; spelling; literacy; läshandikapp; läsning; stavning; läs- och skrivförmåga; fonologisk medvetenhet; intervention; talhandikapp; Disability research; Handikappsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Avhandlingens övergripande syfte var att undersöka fonologisk medvetenhet och skriftspråklig förmåga hos talande eller icke-talande barn, med lässvårigheter eller motoriska talsvårigheter. De huvudsakliga fynden i denna avhandling var: (1) För barn med lässvårigheter som befinner sig på en tidig nivå i sin läsutveckling bör intervention kring läs- och skrivförmågor fokusera på barnets svaghet snarare än styrkan vad gäller ordavkodning. 2. 2. Computer-based speech therapy using visual feedback with focus on children with profound hearing impairments

    Författare :Anne-Marie Öster; David House; James Mahshie; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Speech technology; hearing-imparment; speech therapy; visual feedback; second language learning; computer-based speech training; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents work in the area of computer-based speech therapy using different types of visual feedback to replace the auditory feedback channel. The study includes diagnostic assessment methods prior to therapy, type of therapy design, and type of visual feedback for different users during different stages of therapy for increasing the efficiency. 3. 3. Fine motor timing ability - A study of syllable repetition and finger tapping in adults with developmental stuttering or Parkinson's disease compared with healthy adults

    Författare :Maria Sundqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; motor timing; synchronization; finger tapping; syllable repetition; Developmental stuttering; Parkinson s disease;

    Sammanfattning : Aim and methods: The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the fine motor timing ability as manifested by speech motor and fine hand motor activity in persons with developmental stuttering or Parkinson’s disease, and in healthy adults. A test method for systematic comparison between speech motor timing and fine hand motor control was developed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exploring childhood apraxia of speech : speech and language profiles in 5-year-olds with suspected apraxia of speech or cleft palate

    Författare :Ann Malmenholt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction and aims: Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a speech sound disorder (SSD) lacking a quantifiable measure discriminating all cases of CAS from other SSDs. This project aimed at exploring CAS using different perspectives when examining speech and language difficulties commonly seen in 5-year-old children with suspected CAS or children with repaired cleft palate (CP±L). 5. 5. Development of working memory, speech perception and auditory temporal resolution in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and language impairment

    Författare :Fritjof Norrelgen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Temporal resolution; speech perception; brain; working memory; neurodevelopmental disorder;

    Sammanfattning : Speech perception (SP), verbal working memory (WM) and auditory temporal resolution (ATR) have been studied in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and language impairment (LI), as well as in reference groups of typically developed children. A computerised method was developed, in which discrimination of same or different pairs of stimuli was tested. LÄS MER
