    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the origins and purpose of the stories about restless corpses appearing in the medieval Latin sources created in England between the eleventh and the fifteenth centuries. By engaging with a wide variety of sources, including ancient texts, walking-dead stories created in medieval Europe and Iceland, early modern and modern collections of folk tales, medieval medical treatises, and excavation reports, this thesis endeavours to provide a new insight into the nature of the accounts about revenants appearing in medieval English sources.     Sammanfattning : In Rome during the mid-11th to the mid-13th centuries, a great number of churches were newly built or rebuilt. This called for consecrations of both the churches and the altars contained in them. The consecrations were performed by the Pope or a bishop. Often, an inscription was made to commemorate the event.     Sammanfattning : This study investigates the stock of words for PROPERTY IN GENERAL with the subcategories MOVABLE and IMMOVABLE PROPERTY in the regional medieval Scandinavian laws and makes a linguistic-geographical analysis of these words with the aim of establishing a relative term chronology. A crude analysis shows that fé/fæ for PROPERTY IN GENERAL and land for IMMOVABLE PROPERTY were the oldest terms. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In the mid-thirteenth century, the Dominican friar Vincent of Beauvais compiled the largest encyclopedia ever during the Middle Ages: the fourfold Speculum maius, whose Latin Speculum historiale became by far its most copied and widespread volume. During the 1320's and early 1330's, Jean de Vignay translated the whole Speculum historiale into French and dedicated the work to the French queen Joan of Burgundy, wife of Philip of Valois. LÄS MER
