  1. 16. On Direct Drive Bone Conduction Devices - Hearing Rehabilitation and Objective Assessment of Stimulation Methods

    Författare :Cristina Rigato; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bone Conduction Implant; audiology; comparative study; Direct Drive; active transcutaneous; vibrations; Bone Conduction Devices;

    Sammanfattning : Bone conduction devices (BCDs) rely on the transmission of sound in form of vibrations generated by a transducer to the inner ear via the skull and surrounding soft tissues. Direct drive BCDs stimulate the skull bone directly, either via a skin-penetrating abutment (BAHAs, Bone Anchored Hearing Aids), or with a transducer implanted under intact skin (active transcutaneous devices). Sammanfattning : Medical devices play a major role in diagnosis and therapeutics in the healthcare systems. The basic features of medical devices concern safety and efficient clinical performance. Nowadays, usability evaluation is an important part of the design process of medical devices. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Neural Stem and Progenitor Cells as a Tool for Tissue Regeneration

    Författare :Ulrika Wallenquist; Karin Forsberg Nilsson; Lars Hillered; Karin Holmqvist; Anders Lewén; Johan Bengzon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatic brain injury; neural stem cells; transplantation; CNS; PNS; progenitor cells; inflammation; CCI; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Neurosurgery; neurokirurgi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Neural stem and progenitor cells (NSPC) can differentiate to neurons and glial cells. NSPC are easily propagated in vitro and are therefore an attractive tool for tissue regeneration. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common cause for death and disabilities. A fundamental problem following TBI is tissue loss. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Expanding the versatility and functionality of iontronic devices

    Författare :Dennis Cherian; Magnus Berggren; Daniel T Simon; Klas Tybrandt; Alon Gorodetsky; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Biological systems rarely use electrons as signal regulators, most of the transport and communication in these system utilize ions. The discovery of conjugated polymers and polyelectrolytes and their unique properties of mixed ionic electronic properties opened the possibility of using these in the domain of bioelectronics, which paved the way for the field of organic bioelectronics. 5. 20. Single Molecule Detection : Microfluidic Automation and Digital Quantification

    Författare :Malte Kühnemund; Mats Nilsson; Ulf Landegren; Sten Linnarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; single molecule; digital; rolling circle amplification; magnetic particle; padlock probe; microfluidics; resistive pulse sensing; lab on chip; mobile phone microscopy; enrichment; sequencing;

    Sammanfattning : Much of recent progress in medical research and diagnostics has been enabled through the advances in molecular analysis technologies, which now permit the detection and analysis of single molecules with high sensitivity and specificity. Assay sensitivity is fundamentally limited by the efficiency of the detection method used for read-out. LÄS MER
