  1. 1. Characterization of Retinal Progenitor Cells Focus on Proliferation and the GABAA Receptor System

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Henrik Ring; Uppsala universitet.; [2012]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Regeneration; Proliferation; Neurotransmitters; Müller cells; Differentiation; Retinal repair; Neurogenesis; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : One strategy to repair an injured or degenerated retina is to stimulate the replacement of damaged or dead neurons with cells derived from endogenous stem- or progenitor cells. A successful strategy requires knowledge about how the proliferation and differentiation of the endogenous cells are regulated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Derivation, propagation and differentiation of human stem and progenitor cells

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Mathilda Zetterström Axell; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Human embryonic stem cells; neural progenitor cells; stem cells; differentiation; propagation; migration; cell culturing; rostral migratory stream; electrospun scaffolds;

    Sammanfattning : Neuronal loss is a common feature of many neurological disorders, including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injury. Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and hESC-derived neural progenitors (NPs) may provide a number of new ways for studying and treating diseases and injuries in the brain. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Progenitor cells in the postnatal central nervous system, characterization and genetic manipulation

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Experimental Medical Science, Lund Univeristy

    Författare :Nina Rogelius; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; subventricular zone; Islet1; Neurogenin2; respecification; in vivo.; transcription factors; neurogenesis; Progenitor cells; stem cells;

    Sammanfattning : New neurons are only generated in two places of the postnatal brain; the subventricular zone (SVZ) and hippocampus. The SVZ-derived cells specifically migrate to the olfactory bulb where they give rise to new interneurons. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Transposable Elements in Neural Progenitor Cells

    Detta är en avhandling från Molecular Neurogenetics, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University

    Författare :Liana Fasching; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2015]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transposable Elements; TRIM28; Epigenetic Regulation; Gene Expression; Neural Progenitor Cells;

    Sammanfattning : Popular Abstract in English In an organism the DNA contains the entire biological information that is needed to be able to exist and function. Those segments, also known as DNA sequences are a genetic code, which is further packaged into units called genes. The entity of all genes is called genome. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Auxiliary Cells for the Vascularization and Function of Endogenous and Transplanted Islets of Langerhans

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Liza Grapensparr; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Islets of Langerhans; beta cells; diabetes; transplantation; vascularization; Schwann cells; endothelial progenitor cells; neural crest stem cells; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes develops through the progressive destruction of the insulin-producing beta-cells. Regeneration or replacement of beta-cells is therefore needed to restore normal glucose homeostasis. Presently, normoglycemia can be achieved by the transplantation of whole pancreas or isolated islets of Langerhans. LÄS MER
