26. Stress urinary incontinence among women. Aspects of risk factors, evaluation and surgical treatment
Sammanfattning : The etiology of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is unclear. By linking three nationwide medical registries we evaluated maternal and obstetric factors associated with later SUI surgery. Surgery for SUI was strongly associated with vaginal delivery, but not with pregnancy as such. LÄS MER
27. Postmenopausal disorders with special reference to urinary incontinence : An epidemiological, experimental and clinical study
Sammanfattning : A cross-sectional study of the whole female population of ages 61, 71 and 81 years in a defined part of Sweden was undertaken to investigate the prevalence and severity of postmenopausal symptoms, especially lower genital tract disorders, and to relate their symptoms to reported oestrogen replacement therapy (ERT) (studies I and II). A new substance for endoscopic treatment of urinary incontinence, dextranomers in hyaluronan, (DiHA), was monitored experimentally in terms of tissue reaction, volume changes, DNA changes (study III), and possible migration of particles to distant organs (study IV). 28. Psychosocial consequences of high and intermediate imperforate anus
Sammanfattning : Imperforate anus including lack of a normal anorectum is an uncommon malformation. The parents of children born with high and intermediate imperforate anus have to take a big responsibility for the follow-up treatment. It has been revealed that children with imperforate anus have psychosocial problems, though knowledge of this is limited. LÄS MER
29. Quantitative electromyographic studies of the perineal muscles in normal subjects and patients suffering from anal or urinary incontinence
Sammanfattning : The aims of the study were to characterize the interference pattern in perineal muscles in healthy subjects with the use of quantitative EMG techniques, to evaluate if prostatic surgery had any effect on the interference pattern and furthermore to examine the interference pattern in the perineal muscles in patients suffering from urinary or anal incontinence.The interference pattern in the perineal muscles was examined with a computerized analysis, the Turns and Amplitude (T/A) analysis, and the innervation pattern of the muscles was examined with single fiber electromyography measuring the fiber density. 30. Haemorrhoids : Aspects of Symptoms and Results after Surgery
Sammanfattning : One hundred haemorrhoid patients were compared with 300 matched control persons. Haemorrhoid symptoms and bowel symptoms were studied. Most common symptom of the patients was bleeding (44%), followed by prolapse (24%), hygiene problem (14%), pain (12%) and itching (5%). LÄS MER
