  1. 26. Generation and evolution of human antibody fragments - The CDR shuffling approach

    Författare :Pernilla Jirholt; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; serology; Immunology; Biokemisk teknik; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biochemical technology; Metabolism; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies are important proteins participating in a number of reactions to protect us from harmful diseases. Apart from this important function, they are also useful in different technical and medical applications. This, however, relies on our possibility to produce antibodies in vitro. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Functional Studies of Telomere-Binding Proteins in Saccharomyces castellii

    Författare :Jenny Rhodin; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rap1; DNA-binding domain; telomere evolution; Cdc13; telomerase; single-stranded overhang; telomere; yeast; Naumovia castellii; Saccharomyces castellii;

    Sammanfattning : Telomeres are the ends of linear eukaryotic chromosomes. The telomeres are essential for solving the end replication problem and they stabilize the genome by protection from degradation. The telomeres also protect the chromosomal ends from by being recognized as DNA breaks by the repair machinery, which could lead to end-to-end fusions. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Asymmetric Oligothiophenes : Chemical Evolution of Multimodal Amyloid Ligands

    Författare :Leif B.G. Johansson; Peter Nilsson; Peter Konradsson; Mikael Elofsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Luminescent conjugated polymers (LCPs) and luminescent conjugated oligothiophenes (LCOs) can be used as molecular probes to study diseases associated with protein aggregation. The conventionally used dyes to study and detect protein aggregates, denoted amyloid, have been Congo red (CR) and Thioflavin T (ThT). LÄS MER

  4. 29. Hematopoietic Serine Proteases from the Mast Cell Chymase and Tryptase Loci - a Functional and Evolutionary Analysis

    Författare :Jenny Reimer; Lars Hellman; Gunnar Nilsson; Sara Wernersson; Göran Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cell and molecular biology; immune system; mast cell; basophil; mast cell chymase locus; multigene tryptase locus; serine protease; evolution; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells are key effector cells in allergic and inflammatory diseases. However, their primary role is most likely in host defence against parasitic and bacterial infections. Mast cells are a particularly rich source of serine proteases. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Calreticulins- Calcium-Binding Proteins with Functional Diversity and Evolutionary Duality

    Författare :Staffan Persson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant biochemistry; plant; isoforms; evolution; diversity; differential regulation; chaperone; calnexin; calmegin; calcium; Arabidopsis; calreticulin; Växtbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Calreticulin is a multifunctional protein mainly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic organisms, except yeasts. The protein comprises three distinct regions: the N-terminal N domain, the C-terminal C domain, and the central P domain, reflecting the functional diversity of calreticulin. LÄS MER
