  1. 1. Calreticulins- Calcium-Binding Proteins with Functional Diversity and Evolutionary Duality

    Författare :Staffan Persson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant biochemistry; plant; isoforms; evolution; diversity; differential regulation; chaperone; calnexin; calmegin; calcium; Arabidopsis; calreticulin; Växtbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Calreticulin is a multifunctional protein mainly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic organisms, except yeasts. The protein comprises three distinct regions: the N-terminal N domain, the C-terminal C domain, and the central P domain, reflecting the functional diversity of calreticulin. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Plant Calreticulins -Calcium-binding proteins with many functions

    Författare :Anna Christensen; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tobacco; plant; calreticulin; isoforms; Arabidopsis; localization; mouse embryonic fibroblasts;

    Sammanfattning : Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) plays an important role in protein synthesis, folding, maturation and transport of newly synthesized proteins, as well as the regulation of cellular Ca2+ homeostasis. A protein that is involved in several of these functions in the ER is calreticulin (CRT), which is a Ca2+-binding chaperone that resides in the lumen of the ER. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanisms involved in macrophage phagocytosis of apoptotic cells

    Författare :Anna Nilsson; Per-Arne Oldenborg; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; macrophages; dendritic cells; phagocytosis; apoptotic cells; senescent erythrocytes; CD47; SIRPalpha; LRP1; calreticulin; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Efficient removal of apoptotic cells is critical for development, tissue remodelling, maintenance of homeostasis, and response to injury. Phagocytosis of apoptotic cells is mediated by many phagocytic receptors, soluble bridging molecules, and pro-phagocytic ligands on the surface of apoptotic cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Novel non-collagenous modulators of biomineralization in bone and dentin

    Författare :Eszter Somogyi-Ganss; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Calreticulin; nucleobindin; prothrombin; biomineralization; osteogenesis; dentinogenesis;

    Sammanfattning : The formation of mineralized tissues such as bones and teeth is governed on many levels by molecular, genetic, and cellular events to culminate in terminally differentiated cells that secrete a specialized organic matrix, which is later mineralized through the coordinated deposition of calcium phosphate crystals. The formation of this hard tissue phase is tightly regulated by components of the extracellular matrix (ECM), since deviations from this equilibrium result in prevalent, debilitating health problems such as arthritis, vascular calcification, periodontal disease and osteoporosis. 5. 5. Studies on three matrix molecules in bone and dentin

    Författare :Ulrika Petersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Osteoadherin OSAD ; Nucleobindin Nuc ; Calreticulin CRT ; biomineralization; osteogenesis; dentinogenesis;

    Sammanfattning : The biomineralization of bone and dentin is a complex and dynamic process, involving the formation of an organic framework in which mineral crystals are deposited. The noncollagenous proteins (NCPs) of the organic phase play a central role in the extracellular matrix (ECM) organization and mineralization regulation. LÄS MER
