  1. 31. Vardenafil and methylarginines in pulmonary hypertension

    Författare :Anna Sandqvist; Gerhard Wikström; Jörn Schneede; Amrita Ahluwalia; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vardenafil; pulmonary hypertension; pharmacokinetics; haemodynamics; right heart catheterization; adenosine; dimethylarginines; phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors; endothelin receptor antagonists; klinisk farmakologi; Clinical Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a rare condition characterized by endothelial dysfunction and vascular remodelling, leading to increased pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and right ventricular heart failure. Endothelial dysfunction is associated with an imbalance between vasoconstrictor compounds, such as endothelin and thromboxane A2, and vasodilator compounds, such as prostacyclin and nitric oxide (NO). 2. 32. Genetic Factors and Dietary Salt Intake as Determinants of Blood Pressure and Risk of Primary Hypertension

    Författare :Fredrik Wowern; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Blood Pressure; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Genetics; Salt; Hypertension;

    Sammanfattning : Blood pressure (BP) and development of hypertension (HT) are determined by both genetic and environmental factors. The specific genetic etiology of these two entities has remained enigmatic despite large efforts. In addition, daily salt intake seems to predispose for certain individuals to develop HT. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Yoga as a treatment for hypertension in primary care. A quantitative and qualitative analysis conducted in Sweden

  4. 34. Diabetes and hypertension - entangled chronic conditions in primary care. Time trends and determinants for mortality and cardiovascular complications

    Författare :Tobias Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diabetes mellitus; hypertension; C-peptide; mortality; cause of death; myocardial infarction; stroke; cohort studies; primary health care; socioeconomic factors; emigrants and immigrants;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes and hypertension are chronic, often coexisting conditions with increased risk of premature death and cardiovascular complications. This thesis aimed to study different epidemiological aspects regarding risk of mortality and cardiovascular complications among individuals with diabetes, hypertension, and hypertension with concomitant diabetes in primary care.
