31. Interactions between non-polar surfaces in water: Fokus on talc, pitch and surface roughness effects
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the interactions between talc mineral and surfaces, liquids and chemicals relevant for industrial applications, such as pulp and paper. Talc is used in the pulp and paper industry as a filler pigment, in control of pitch (lipophilic extractives) deposits and as a coating pigment. LÄS MER
32. Innovative process solutions towards recycling of salt cake from secondary aluminum smelting
Sammanfattning : To offer better solutions for the recycling of salt cake from secondary aluminum melting, several innovative investigations were carried out based on hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical views.Thermal diffusivity measurements as a function of temperature on salts-Al composites having various compositions (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12wt pct metallic Al) were carried out. 33. Development of diode laser-based absorption and dispersion spectroscopic techniques for sensitive and selective detection of gaseous species and temperature
Sammanfattning : The main aim of this thesis has been to contribute to the ongoing work with development of new diode-laser-based spectroscopic techniques and methodologies for sensitive detection of molecules in gas phase. The techniques under scrutiny are tunable diode laser absorption spectrometry (TDLAS) and Faraday modulation spectrometry (FAMOS). LÄS MER
34. Volatile Hydrocarbons in Ambient Air. Gas Chromatographic Assessment, Emissions and Human Exposure
Sammanfattning : Hydrocarbons in ambient air constitute a potential health risk for a large number of individuals. The work reported in this thesis focusses on human exposure to volatile hydrocarbons in ambient air. The analytical determinations were made by adsorbent sampling followed by thermal desorption and gas chromatography. LÄS MER
35. Speciation analysis of butyl- and phenyltin compounds in environmental samples by GC separation and atomic spectrometric detection
Sammanfattning : The main goal of the work presented in this thesis is to improve the reliability of existing methods for speciation analysis of organotin compounds Species-specific isotope dilution (SSID) calibration in combination with gas chromatography – inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was used to investigate the transformation of phenyltin species during sample preparation. Isotope-enriched phenyltin species were synthesized from corresponding isotope-enriched tin metals. LÄS MER
