16. Hybrid sterility and genetic incompatibilities in Ficedula flycatchers
Sammanfattning : Although the theory behind the mechanisms generating intrinsic post-zygotic isolation is well established, very few concrete examples of genetic incompatibilities have been described, especially in vertebrates. Consequently, our understanding of the evolutionary forces shaping the appearance of genetic incompatibilities between natural populations and the overall role of genetic incompatibilities in the speciation process is limited. 17. Partner relationship in couples living with atrial fibrillation
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to describe and explore how the partner relationship of patient–partner dyads isaffected following cardiac disease and, in particular, atrial fibrillation (AF) in one of the spouses. The thesis is based on four individual studies with different designs: descriptive (I), explorative (II, IV), and cross-sectional (III). 18. Emission and interaction from domestic installations in the low voltage electricity network, up to 150 kHz
Sammanfattning : This thesis work has focused on conducted emission (up to 150 kHz) from common lowvoltage appliances. The emphasis has been on equipment that contributes to a sustainable energy system: photovoltaic (PV) installations and energy-saving lamps (LED lamps). LÄS MER
19. Aesthetic Experiences of Presence : Case Studies in Film Exhibition, 1896-1898
Sammanfattning : This study investigates viewing experiences that came with the introduction of cinema. Merging (film) history with aesthetic theory, this dissertation entails historically informed theoretical reconstructions of viewing experiences between 1896 and 1898. LÄS MER
20. First-principles description of planarfaults in metals and alloys
Sammanfattning : Phase interface and stacking fault are two common planar defects in metallic materials. In the present thesis, the interfacial energy and the generalized stacking fault energy of random alloys are investigated using density functional theory formulated within the exact muffin-tin orbitals (EMTO) method in combination with the coherent-potential approximation (CPA).
